Secret Weapons Book Review

The following book review was written by Lynn Hersha, one of the authors of the book, “Secret Weapons – Two Sisters’ Terrifying True Story of Sex, Spies and Sabotage” by Cheryl and Lynn Hersha with Dale Griffis, Ph D. and Ted Schwartz. New Horizon Press, P O Box 669 Far Hills, NJ 07931 – ISBN 0-88282-196-2. Her letter/article was published in the March 1997 Issue #13 of SMART. Following the article are excerpts from the book. Please use caution while reading this. It may be heavy for survivors. All accusations are alleged.

In the United States, the American public have had the knowledge of the CIA’s Top Secret Program, MKUltra, and its experimentation in Mind Control on adult volunteers and unwitting subjects. Now, we have a well-documented, verifiable account of not one, but two childrens’ long untold stories of being CHILD subjects of Project MKUltra.

In the new book, “Secret Weapons: Two Sisters’ Terrifying True Story of Sex, Spies and Sabotage,” we find the horrific, yet, informative narratives of Cheryl and Lynn Hersha, as they describe tortuous programming beginning at the tender ages of four and six years, and continuing into adulthood. Their harrowing accounts are supported by the fact-finding, breakthrough research of Dale Griffis, PhD., (a private investigator best known for his 25 yrs. of work in Ritual Abuse), and investigative journalist, Ted Schwarz, (who has authored over 100 books, countless magazine articles and other written media, including works on Dissociative Identity Disorder, True Crime Stories, and authorized biographies.) A must-read for all who believe in the inherent worth of every human being, and the triumph of the human spirit over the worst evils man can perpetuate against the very young it should be compelled to protect, be it by morality, ethical conduct, law, or common human decency. A riveting, heart-wrenching expose whose time has come.

First, the person traumatized had to be both extremely intelligent and under the age of seven, two conditions not yet understood though remaining consistent as factors. “The government researchers, aware of the information in the professional journals, decided to reverse the process (of healing from hysteric dissociation). They decided to use selective trauma on healthy children to create personalities capable of committing acts desired for national security and defense.” p. 53 – 54

The book also contains a variety of documents on mk-ultra and different projects as well as reports to the Presidential Committee on Radiation and Mind Control, including information on the five Canadians’ lawsuit against the U.S. Government.

McMartin Preschool Story

“In 1983, hundreds of kids disclosed to their parents and therapists that they were abused at the prestigious McMartin Preschool in Manhattan Beach, California. Seven people were arrest and charged with hundreds of counts of child sexual abuse, setting off the longest and most expensive trial in U.S. History (7 years).”(http://members.cruzio.com/~ratf/McMartIntro.html) Additional resources on this trial and related issues are located after this article. The following interview was between Neil Brick, editor of SMART and Jackie MacGauley, mother of one of the alleged survivors of abuse at the McMartin Preschool. All accusations are alleged.

Do you have any proof and references that the children at McMartin were abused?

We were in court for 7 years. Still the longest trial in U.S. history. My daughter and hundreds of people I know deal with the aftermath on a daily basis. Our children’s medical reports and the tunnels which corroborated one of the most ‘fantastic stories’ the children recounted. The tunnels are documented in a formal report now located at a Law University. The most compelling proof was living with my daughter and dealing with all of her revelations and fears.

Why were the defendants declared not guilty?

The jury very clearly stated that the prosecution did not prove their case. The jurors were convinced that someone did commit the crime. One juror said she would have liked to have heard more from the children. All 7 defendants were held over for trial after the pretrial. Criminal counts were added. Before the trial, when the case was not assigned to a courtroom or judge, District Attorney Ira Reiner decided to drop 5 of the defendants. A memo cited that he did not want any of “These kinds of cases anymore.” About 10 other preschools were closed, but there could be no arrests without any possibility of prosecution. It was becoming an embarrassment to his office. I was told by a witness family that one defendant had enough counts and enough evidence to be tried, but Mr. Reiner felt the case would not be successful if he included her. A mother/son situation seemed like a more plausible story. Some child witnesses refused to testify when parents saw how the children were treated on the witness stand by the 7 defense attorneys. Some families were still willing to testify but were never even notified that they were no longer needed.

How do you feel about the media and their involvement in the case and after the case?

At first I was amazed at the attention we got. This is a small town and it involved only a few local families, I thought at the time. I never really did understand why it mushroomed as it did. I ask experts and they give different explanations. Dr. Underwager was speaking out on behalf of the defendants in Jordan, Minnesota. Janet Reno was D.A. in Miami during the Countrywalk case. She won the case when Illiana Fuster testified against her convicted murderer husband, Frank Fuster. The giant Bakersfield case and others started well before the McMartin case.

The media likes to report things that they know will sell their newspapers rather than reality. What happened in court was far from representative of the reality of the crime. Moral of this story, do NOT believe much of what you hear or read in the media.

Do you believe there were tunnels at McMartin? What proof can you offer to verify this?

You are asking the person who actually did the project. We heavily documented our findings in photographs, scientists’ reports and analysis. There were also an abundance of witnesses, including the media. The formal report is housed at a University Law Library at the moment.

If you do believe the allegations at McMartin were true, how long do you believe they were going on? What evidence do you have for this?

My daughter attended the school for 4 months in (Sept through January when it closed) 1982-1983. The most recent allegations began in August, 1982 when Judy Johnson took her 3 year old son to a doctor who reported it to the authorities.

A lot of us parents still talk about what happened. A friend of mine was Mayor during that time. We still console each other over what happened. A lot of us still feel totally disgusted with the whole thing. Compelling (and corroborating) evidence for me and her family and Doctor was a friend who was 44 when she died last October. She was in the second class ever given at the old location, about 1958. Her psychiatrist introduced her to me in 1984.

Do you know about anyone writing articles trying to disprove the allegations at McMartin, and why do you feel they would do this? Do you have any evidence for this?

Some V.O.C.A.L., False Memory Syndrome type affiliates seem to make it a regular task to discredit our children. Their opinions have seeped into popular journalism and, I understand, are used as fact. If you want some good background on how this all began, start with Jan Hollingsworth’s book “Unspeakable Acts” for some fantastic documentation of the perp’s games. Another highly recommended book is “The Battle and the Backlash” by David Hechler.

In courts of law their work is frequently cited, and they lecture widely to receptive audiences. The Eberles once appeared as featured speakers at a conference held by Victims of Child Abuse Laws (VOCAL), an organization that feted “The Politics Of Child Abuse” as positively revelatory….Blurbs in their own pornographic tabloid, L.A. Star, failed to mention that in the 1970s the authors once ran an underground tabloid for pedophiles in Los Angeles, Finger, which delved heavily into sadomasochistic sex, sex with children and sex acts involving human excrement. Finger contained sexual drawings by children and pedophile erotica…”

ECT Article

The following article is from Katherine Sullivan, founder of PARC-VRAMC, http://parc-vramc.tierranet.com PMB 129, 5251 Hwy 153, Hixson, TN 37343. This may be heavy for survivors.

I recently saw a film entitled Madness and Medicine, which aired on or after 1977. It included interviews with doctors and two ECT patients.

I’ve suspected for some time that the reason my memory is still so scattered, is that ECT was forcibly done to me especially in the early to mid 1980’s in at least three covert facilities or units. One seems to have been right here in Chattanooga. A second facility may have been in or near Atlanta. The third was in a two-story house in Elberton, Georgia. The second facility, I’ve remembered at least 20 – 30 times. There, I and other prisoners — mostly MK Deltas — were forcibly subjected to ECT. We were also drugged until we no longer remembered ops and couldn’t express anger. Only after that were we allowed to be transported home.

Two patients interviewed for the film seemed to have the same problems with memory recovery that I do. One woman said that she couldn’t find things around the house; her memory was “blocked.” She lost her job and had to go on disability. According to the film, the most consistent effect of ECT was memory loss . . . patients not only didn’t remember the ECT; they also lost memories from their past. A Dr. Grimm said ECT created confusion, disorientation, being emotionally disorganized, and brain injury.

Editor’s Article

Learning about mind control techniques.

Learning how to be more healthy and functional in one’s life, more appropriate behaviors, etc.

Hide and Seek by CDBW/Powerchild ’92

One day they’re here, the next day they’re gone

We’re playing hide and seek with the next generation

We hide behind hands when they’re a few months old

A few years pass, they’re hiding behind beds

Within a year, they’re hiding behind losers

When they get older, they hide behind friends

Parents beware, the game’s nearly over, our children are finally getting older

And soon we’ll be in therapy

Breaking the cycle, which could be the goal of this generation.

This is a poem symbolic of the author hiding from the perpetrators. It was written after an event of abuse by the mother’s relatives.)

METHOD: Data were abstracted from 323 criminal court files…RESULTS: In this community, criminal court records reflect a sex offense confession rate of 64% and a sex offense plea rate of 70%. Minister Admits Molesting Children – by Jennifer Holland – Associated Press Greenwood, S.C. (AP) – a minister and former elementary school aide who videotaped himself molesting children pleaded guilty Monday to sexually abusing nearly two dozen youngsters and was sentenced to 60 years in prison.
