Alison Miller’s reply to Evan Anderson, Grey Faction Director of The Satanic Temple (TST)’s Grey Faction
“The reason I discontinued my membership in the College of Psychologists has nothing to do with the Grey Faction’s harassing complaint about my writings and online videos. I left the College because I am 78 years old. I retired two years ago.” – Alison Miller

“That is why I resigned, not because I was about to be found guilty of promoting unscientific conspiracy theories. Anderson has posted his complaint and the College’s response, distorting the story by omitting the College’s letter to me and my response to it. As for not being allowed to call myself a “psychologist,” that is the situation for every retired psychologist. It is similar for other health professions, and it does not indicate that the work I did was inferior or that I was found guilty of unethical behavior.” – Alison Miller

Here is a brief history of the Grey Faction’s efforts from:
Grey Faction, Satanic Temple and Lucien Greaves Fact Sheet https://ritualabuse.us/ritualabuse/grey-faction-satanic-temple-and-lucien-greaves-fact-sheet/

(Alison Miller’s article will follow.)

For almost a decade Douglas Misicko using several aliases (including Douglas Mesner and Lucien Greaves) has harassed groups helping child abuse, rape and trauma survivors. He has also harassed groups providing research in support of child abuse, rape and trauma survivors.
In 2013, he and others created a group called the Satanic Temple. One part of this group is called the Grey Faction. The Grey Faction states they “invade” conferences. These conferences are provided to help and educate child abuse, rape and trauma survivors and their helpers.
Their representatives that invade these conferences misrepresent their reasons for attending these conferences. They film people at these conferences without permission and publish these films without the permission of those filmed. The Grey Faction repeatedly misrepresents the research and statements of the people at these conferences. It uses repeated ad hominem attacks against child abuse and trauma researchers without rebutting their research or stories.
This information is being posted with the permission of its author, Alison Miller. Please note: All accusations are alleged. The views, facts and opinions mentioned in this article are the opinions of the author and are not necessarily the opinions of this website or its editor.

Note from Alison Miller:
The reason I discontinued my membership in the College of Psychologists was nothing to do with the Grey Faction’s harassing complaint about my writings and online videos. I left the College because I am 78 years old. I retired two years ago. When I retired, I maintained membership in a non-practising (retired) category because I still had clinical records from past clients. I mistakenly assumed that the provision of psychological services which is prohibited for non-practising members extended only to providing direct service to clients, and that I was still permitted to speak at conferences and write articles. When Evan Anderson complained about my work, the College asked me about my professional activities since retirement, and let me know that (a) I did not have to remain a member after retirement as long as another member knew the location of my clinical records, and (b) speaking and writing were considered to be providing psychological services, which was forbidden to non-practicing members—but if I discontinued membership, my speaking and writing activities would no longer be the concern of the licensing body. It became evident to me that I no longer needed to maintain this unnecessary membership which now prohibited me from speaking and writing, so I resigned from the College.

That is why I resigned, not because I was about to be found guilty of promoting unscientific conspiracy theories. Anderson has posted his complaint and the College’s response, distorting the story by omitting the College’s letter to me and my response to it. As for not being allowed to call myself a “psychologist,” that is the situation for every retired psychologist. It is similar for other health professions, and it does not indicate that the work I did was inferior or that I was found guilty of unethical behavior. Anderson has distorted the meaning of the College’s response to his complaint, as if the complaint itself were validated. It was not.

I am accused of being a conspiracy theorist because I believe there exist organized groups of pedophiles, some of whom use the trappings of Satanic religion to intimidate children and make child pornography, and some of whom exploit knowledge of traumatized children’s ability to dissociate. It appears that the leadership of the Grey Faction believe there is a conspiracy of highly credentialed mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, criminologists, psychotherapists and counselors, all of whom agree with my understanding of this kind of trauma. They suggest that the limited understanding of trauma and dissociation and of organized abuse which was common around 1990 should replace the better-informed modern approach which characterizes members of our conspiracy of professionals. Don’t let them fool you.

Recovered Memories and Dissociative Amnesia – Scientific Evidence and Accuracy Rates Recovered memories have been defined as the phenomenon of partially or fully losing parts of memories of traumatic events, and then later recovering part or all of the memories into conscious awareness. There is very strong scientific evidence that recovered memories exist. This has been shown in many scientific studies. The content of recovered memories have fairly high corroboration rates.
A body of empirical evidence indicates that it is common for abused children to reach adulthood without conscious awareness of the trauma.
There is scientific evidence in support of the phenomena of dissociation and recovered memory in Holocaust survivors. https://ritualabuse.us/research/recovered-memories-and-dissociative-amnesia-scientific-evidence-and-accuracy-rates/

How Exactly Is Alleged Sex Trafficker Jeffrey Epstein Connected to President Trump?
By Madison Feller Aug 13, 2019
….In the early 2000s, Epstein was suspected of similar crimes in Florida. While federal prosecutors prepared a 53-page federal indictment against him, he ended up striking a plea deal in 2008 and only pled guilty to two prostitution charges. Then-U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta was instrumental in the deal, and in February 2017, Trump nominated Acosta to be the U.S. Secretary of Labor. He was ultimately confirmed to the position, though Acosta’s deal with Epstein was brought up during his confirmation hearings.
The deal was kept secret from victims, and it gave immunity to any of Epstein’s potential co-conspirators. Epstein served 13 months in a county jail, and he was also allowed to leave for work release six days a week.
The Miami Herald described the deal, which was then sealed, to be “considered one of the most lenient sentences for a serial sex offender in history.”
In February, a federal judge in Palm Beach ruled that federal prosecutors, including Acosta, broke the law when they signed the plea deal with Epstein since the deal was kept from his alleged victims, thus violating the Crime Victims’ Rights Act. However, in June, the Department of Justice declined to invalidate the deal, according to Vox.
Epstein and Trump’s Friendship

Besides the Acosta connection, Epstein had other ties to President Donald Trump, namely the fact that the two were friends. In 2002, in a profile about Epstein in New York Magazine, Trump was quoted as saying, “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”
According to the Miami Herald, in June 2016, a woman filed a lawsuit in Manhattan, claiming that she was raped by Trump at a party at Epstein’s Manhattan home in 1994. (She would have been 13 years old at the time.) Trump and Epstein had both denied her account, and she ended up dropping the suit.
The Herald also reported that one of Epstein’s alleged victims, Virginia Roberts, worked at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club when she was introduced to, and began to be sexually abused by, Epstein. In November 2018, Roberts was one of the dozens of alleged victims identified by the Herald in a shocking expose into the allegations against Epstein.
Now, a new report from the New York Times provides a bit more insight into Epstein and Trump’s friendship, and the later fallout. The Times called their relationship a “yearslong friendship” that is rumored to have ended after both attempted to buy the same oceanfront mansion in Florida.
The piece also described a 1992 “calendar girl” competition hosted at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club. What was billed by Trump as an exclusive party was actually just a gathering of Trump, Epstein, and about two dozen girls flown in for the event.
NBC archival footage also shows the two partying together at Mar-a-Lago in November 1992, where the two seem to be discussing the women there. Trump appears to tell Epstein that one of the women is “hot” before saying something in his ear that makes Epstein double over with laughter.
Roger Stone, Trump’s former advisor, wrote in his book titled “The Clintons’ War on Women,” that once when Trump visited Epstein’s home in Florida, he later joked about the girls he saw, saying, “The swimming pool was filled with beautiful young girls. ‘How nice,’ I thought, ‘He let the neighborhood kids use his pool.’”….
(Trump) said, “I had a falling out with him. I haven’t spoken to him in 15 years. I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you.”
And before his presidential campaign, the Times reports that Trump told his former campaign aide that he barred Epstein from his clubs after Epstein tried to recruit a woman who worked at Mar-a-Lago….

Jeffrey Epstein’s lawyers highly ‘skeptical’ of suicide ruling, say he wasn’t ‘despairing, despondent’ before death Tue, Aug 27 2019 Dan Mangan Kevin Breuninger
….Epstein, 66, was a former friend of Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew and other celebrities, whom he entertained at his luxurious residences in Manhattan, Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
….A defense lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein on Tuesday expressed deep skepticism that the wealthy financier died by hanging himself in a Manhattan federal jail while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges, as a medical examiner has ruled.
The injuries suffered by Epstein are “far more consistent with assault” than suicide, the lawyer, Reid Weingarten, told Judge Richard Berman in U.S. District Court in Manhattan during a hearing.
Weingarten cited the defense’s own medical sources. Broken bones were found in Epstein’s neck during an autopsy after he died Aug. 10.
Such fractures are somewhat more common in cases of strangulation than in hanging.
Weingarten told the judge that when he and other defense attorneys spoke to Epstein shortly before his death “we did not see a despairing, despondent, suicidal person.”
Weingarten’s comments came during a proceeding where prosecutors were seeking the dismissal of child sex trafficking charges against the Epstein as a result of his death.
More than 20 alleged victims of Epstein spoke or had statements read during the hearing.
Another Epstein lawyer, Martin Weinberg, told Berman that the defense team had prepared a “significant” motion to dismiss the case, and that the lawyers were not approaching the case with a “futile, defeatist attitude.”
Weingarten said Berman had a “pivotal role to find out what happened.”

“We want the court to help us find out what happened,” Weingarten said.
“We’re skeptical of the certitude” of the finding of suicide by hanging by the New York City medical examiner, the lawyer said.
There are “significant doubts” regarding “the conclusion of suicide,” Weingarten said.
But Maurene Comey, a federal prosecutor, told Berman that Epstein’s death was already the subject of “an ongoing and active grand jury investigation.”….Epstein, 66, was a former friend of Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew and other celebrities, whom he entertained at his luxurious residences on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Palm Beach, Florida, and on a private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
….Weeks before his death, Epstein was found semiconscious in his cell in the Manhattan Correctional Center with marks on his neck. That incident led to him being placed on suicide watch, but he was taken off of that status about a week later.
Epstein’s connections, vast wealth and the prior incident in the jail led to a rash of speculation about whether he was killed in his jail cell, and did not commit suicide.
….Weingarten also pointed out that “we’ve heard that” the surveillance video at the jail around Epstein’s cell “were either corrupted or not functioning.”….

Girls who appeared to be 11 to 12 seen with Jeffrey Epstein getting off his plane in 2018 as authorities eyed his travel abroad  Wed, Sep 11 2019 Dan Mangan
Key Points
An air traffic controller saw financier Jeffrey Epstein getting off his private plane in the U.S. Virgin Islands with girls who appeared to be 11 to 12 years old in 2018.
A registered sex offender with a known penchant for young girls, Epstein committed suicide in a federal jail in August while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges.
Epstein was a former friend of President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton.
….Epstein, who is now dead, on other occasions was seen at the St. Thomas airport in the latter half of 2018 getting “off the plane with young girls,” including at least one other time when the air traffic controller saw him with a girl who appeared to be between 16 and 18 years old, documents show.
The air traffic controller told U.S. Marshals Service investigators about Epstein traveling with underage girls on July 10, 2019, a week after Epstein was arrested at a New Jersey airport on child sex trafficking charges.

….Epstein, a former friend of President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton, was being held without bail as he awaited trial in his case. His death remains under investigation by multiple agencies.
One of the documents released through MuckRock indicates that Epstein had no mental health concerns or suicidal tendencies at the time of his arrest in July.
But the Marshals Service detention report detailing Epstein’s 33 days in custody at the Manhattan Correctional Center says he had “mental concerns” and “suicidal tendencies” during his incarceration.
….Epstein had a well-known penchant for young women and girls, and an obsession with receiving “massages” from them several times a day. Prosecutors say those massages sometimes, if not always, included sexual contact.
Prosecutors have said they are continuing to investigate the case, noting that Epstein was alleged to have been helped by conspirators who provided him with a stream of girls to satisfy his illicit cravings.

The Jeffrey Epstein investigation was more expansive than previously thought, documents show
By Erica Orden, CNN Wed September 11, 2019
New lawsuit alleges extent Epstein and associates went through to maintain and hide pedophilia ring 03:14
(CNN)Investigations into accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein were more expansive than previously known, according to a cache of documents released Wednesday by the US Marshals Service to CNN.
Since early this year, the documents show, authorities reviewed allegations of Epstein’s contact with minors as recently as late last year and whether he improperly failed to report his international travel to authorities.
While the most significant inquiry into the now-deceased multimillionaire came from federal prosecutors in the Manhattan US Attorney’s office, which charged Epstein in July, a separate investigation by the Marshals Service had led to a request for information from the countries of France, Monaco, Austria and Morocco about his travels there….

Jeffrey Epstein’s former ‘sex slave’ visited him 90 times in jail By Emily Saul and Kate Sheehy September 23, 2019 One of Jeffrey Epstein’s former underage “sex slaves” was allowed to visit him around 90 times while he was in a Florida jail for solicitation of a minor, a report said Monday.
Nadia Marcinkova — whom Epstein allegedly “purchased” from her family and brought to the US around 2001 at age 15, bragging that she was “his Yugoslavian sex slave” — was allowed into the Palm Beach County Jail in 2008 while he was doing time for soliciting sex from a minor, the Daily Mail said, citing local sheriff’s office visitor logs.
Marcinkova was in her early 20s by then — but jail officials should have been aware of accusations that Epstein allegedly sexually abused her while she was underage because the details were in a previous police report, the Mail noted.
Epstein had landed his cushy, controversial 13-month prison sentence amid dozens of accusations of sex abuse of girls and young women.
He was put in a private wing at the Palm Beach County jail after he was allowed to plead guilty to the solicitation charge, and when he wasn’t enjoying visits from women such as Marcinkova, he was being freed on “work release’’ — where he allegedly continued to enjoy sex encounters.

The Post documented through court papers that Marcinkova visited Epstein 54 times while he was behind bars. But the Mail said it had logs showing the tally hovered around 90, although the woman’s last name was spelled as Marcorkona. The first name was the same.
Marcinkova spent her earlier years with Epstein having sex with him and other girls who also were below the age of consent, some of his victims told investigators…..

Epstein accuser says Prince Andrew told her ‘thank you’ after she was forced to have sex with him
By Robert Gearty Fox News Sept. 21, 2019
A woman who claims Jeffrey Epstein paid her to have sex with Prince Andrew says in her first TV interview that the Duke of York thanked her after their first sexual encounter.
“He was an abuser. He was a participant,” Virginia Roberts Giuffre says of Andrew in an interview with NBC Dateline set to air Friday night. The interview with Giuffre includes five other Epstein accusers, including three who are speaking publicly for the first time.
Giuffre repeats accusations she has made in court papers that when she was 17 in 2001 she was forced to have sex with Andrew. A photo released by a New York appeals court in August shows Andrew with his arm around Giuffre’s bare waist. Giuffre says it was taken in the apartment of Epstein’s longtime girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell in 2001….
Giuffre says she and Andrew had sex two more times. The encounters happened in Epstein’s New York apartment and at his Virgin Islands estate, she alleges.

Giuffre adds that Andrew can deny they had sex but “he knows the truth and I know the truth.”
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told Dateline: “It is emphatically denied that the Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or encounter with Virginia Roberts [Giuffre]. Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation.”….

Prayer, Politics and Power: ‘The Family’ Reveals Our Insidious American Theocracy
Based on author Jeff Sharlet’s book of the same name, the Netflix docuseries highlights a secret (homoerotic) Christian cabal that you’ve never heard of – E J Dickson August 9, 2019
….the wide-ranging network of politicians, world leaders, and men of faith that make up the Fellowship isn’t mere conspiracy theory: it’s 100 percent true. What’s more, some of its members are speaking on the record about it for the first time in the new five-part Netflix series The Family, directed by documentarian Jesse Moss.
The Fellowship, also known as the Family, is a highly secretive group of evangelical Christian men who meet for Bible study and prayer meetings; it’s best known for serving as the organizer of the National Prayer Breakfast, an annual gathering of diplomats and world leaders in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1935 by a man named Abraham Veride, the Fellowship initially arose from Vereide trying to arrange a meeting of business owners to crush laborers’ attempts at organizing. Over the course of the past 75 years, it has evolved into what some have referred to as a secret theocracy, or an underground movement of prominent Christian men who exert their influence not just in the United States, but abroad as well….

Fellowship members operate under a veil of secrecy, which is by design; Fellowship head Douglas Coe, who died in 2017, believed that the group could best exert its influence that way. Its members include senators, diplomats, and religious leaders around the world: Sen. Chuck Grassley, Sen. Jim Inhofe, and Rep. Bart Stupak have been linked to the group, while Vice President Mike Pence and attorney general Jeff Sessions have also been referred to as “friends of the Family.” And it’s a testament to the persistence of the production team that a handful of Fellowship members, including former Congressman Zach Wamp, speak on the record for the first time about the organization in the series. Moss attributes their willingness to talk in part to the organization’s attempts to “adapt to the 21st century with a greater degree of transparency, though only time will tell if that’s true.” Sharlet, however, has a slightly different take: “They’re not opening the doors. They’re not becoming transparent. That simply hasn’t happened. But they do want to have their say.”
The primary way the Fellowship maintains influence, the series argues, is through the National Prayer Breakfast, which every president since Eisenhower has attended over the past 50 years. Though many consider the Prayer Breakfast something of a “banal event,” according to Moss, he says, “It’s really quite an impressive demonstration of influence and power.”….
Members of the Family have also aligned themselves with global leaders who had committed atrocities in their home countries, including Libyan dictator Moammar Gaddafi, who once prayed with Coe. “In the face of all these dictators, they don’t say anything at all,” says Sharlet. “They don’t ask any accountability.”
Sharlet has been reporting on the Family since 2003, when he published an article in Harper’s Bazaar about his time as an intern at Ivanwald, a Fellowship house in D.C. His work has been instrumental in lifting the veil of secrecy surrounding the organization, much to the chagrin of members of the Family: even though the group has ties to “all these dictators and war criminals, [I’m] the only person they’ve ever described as evil,” Sharlet says….

Michigan State to pay record $4.5 million fine in Larry Nassar sexual assault scandal
Before Larry Nassar was sentenced to 40 to 175 years, the prosecutor said if it weren’t for the investigative reporting of the Indianapolis Star, Nassar would still be abusing gymnasts. Those reporters now share how they gave a voice to the victims. USA TODAY
DETROIT – Michigan State University will pay a record $4.5 million fine for its poor handling of the Larry Nassar case, the federal education department announced Thursday.
“What happened at MSU was abhorrent. …. so was the university’s response to their crimes,” U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said in announcing the findings, referring to Nassar and his boss, former osteopathic college Dean William Strampel.
In immediate fallout from the report, MSU Provost June Youatt resigned from the university, sources told the Free Press. Youatt, the No. 2 person at the university responsible for the academic side of the institution, was specifically called out in the report for failing to take action in the Strampel case.

This is the second time in less than five years that the federal government has found major violations of Title IX at MSU. In 2015, before Nassar was publicly known, the Office of Civil Rights said MSU did not act promptly to handle two reports of sexual assault. The office also found the university did not have proper procedures and policies in place to handle sexual assault reports, which created a sexually hostile environment on campus.
In addition, the school must hire an outside law firm to review all sex assault case decisions made by the school’s Title IX office and issue a report to the federal government. MSU’s board and president must also receive a regular report of all cases and decisions.

‘Depraved and abhorrent’ father Richard Haynes, who raped daughter, sentenced to 45 years in prison By Jamie McKinnell A man whose daughter developed thousands of personalities after he repeatedly raped and abused her has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.
Key points:
Richard Haynes has been sentenced over the abuse of his daughter during the 1970s and 80s
Jeni Haynes developed dissociative identity disorder as a result of the abuse
He has been sentenced to a maximum sentence of 45 years with a non-parole period of 33 years
District Court Judge Sarah Huggett said Richard Haynes, 74, will likely die in jail before his non-parole period of 33 years expires in 2050.
He changed his plea to guilty mid-trial in March after being extradited from the UK to face dozens of charges rape, buggery and assault from the 1970s and 80s.
His daughter, Jennifer, was aged between four and 11.
Judge Huggett described Haynes’ abuse as “depraved and abhorrent” and said it involved the use of grooming, conditioning and humiliation to exercise control.

“The psychological manipulation used by the offender, coupled with his escalating violence, served to emphasise and reinforce the power he had over her,” she said.
Judge Huggett said in sentencing Haynes, she was required to put aside her emotional reaction to the “profoundly disturbing and perverted” way he treated his daughter.
She handed him a maximum sentence of 45 years with a non-parole period of 33 years.

#MeToo movement She Said: an inside look at the story that brought down Harvey Weinstein
Journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor spoke to the Guardian about their sprawling investigation into Weinstein’s alleged sexual predation as detailed in their new book
….Twohey and Kantor’s 3,300-word article, the first of many on Weinstein, triggered an avalanche of women’s accounts of sexual harassment and assault under the hashtag #MeToo, first coined years earlier by the activist Tarana Burke. Since then, the tide of pent-up frustration and calls for accountability have exposed and stalled the careers of prominent men such as Matt Lauer, Charlie Rose and Les Moonves, to name a few. (Weinstein, whose criminal trial for rape and predatory sexual assault has been delayed until January 2020, has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex and pleaded not guilty.)
….The final showdown with Weinstein is just one of several revelations in She Said that portend a much deeper story than the one which seized headlines two years ago.

“We pretty quickly realized that our first Weinstein articles were actually just the beginning,” Twohey told the Guardian in an interview. “With this book, we were able to piece together so many more pieces of the puzzle.”
She Said stitches together remarkable elements previously unknown to the public, including: a long-sought interview with Bob Weinstein, the mogul’s brother and lifelong business partner, in which he claims he disastrously mischaracterized and enabled his brother’s actions as extramarital affairs born of sex addiction. It details the previously unrevealed story of Irwin Reiter, Weinstein’s corporate accountant for over 30 years, who served as the investigation’s “deep throat” by providing crucial company documents in the final stages. And it describes how the famed attorney Gloria Allred cultivated a public reputation as a feminist crusader while she and her firm privately negotiated and buried sexual harassment settlements for victims – including of Weinstein and the Olympic gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar – from which they took a 30% to 40% cut. There’s also a damning memo from Allred’s similarly notorious daughter, Lisa Bloom, who was paid $895 an hour by Weinstein for counsel on “positive reputation management”. (Bloom later told the reporters that her work for Weinstein was a “colossal mistake”.)

‘The absolute worst I’ve ever seen’: Two men accused in case involving children and satanic rituals, bestiality
By Jennifer Edwards Baker August 29, 2019
LOCKLAND, Ohio (FOX19) – Two men are under arrest on child rape and porn charges as police race to identify children they suspect are being victimized in pornographic pictures posted online.
Lockland police describe the case as the worst they’ve ever seen. They say they found the pornographic images, including child bestiality, on the suspects’ phones during rape investigations in Clermont and Hamilton counties….
Suder, 36, is charged with raping a 7-year-old child and taking sexually explicit pictures of the victim and two other children, 5 and 8 at Oakwood Apartments on Brooklyn Avenue, Milford police said in a news release Thursday….
Police wrote in his arrest report he “confessed to raping the victim” and was “found to be in possession of child pornography and bestiality involving victims under the age of 5.”
In addition to his confession, Bustillos also was charged based on “evidence recovered,” an affidavit shows.
Bustillos surrendered to Lockland police outside his apartment Wednesday after they contacted him and searched his apartment….
“His apartment was basically set up as a sex room. His bedroom included a bed with nets to mount cameras to record sex acts and a little satanic ritual set up with cameras satanic totems. He had dildos in the showers and these pictures of these kids in the shower with the dildos….

The relative said police have taken into evidence photos and videos of the alleges rapes and Suder was sending pictures of the children to people for money.
“They have four photo albums full of pictures of (the) kids and four albums who they don’t know who these kids are just from (Suder’s) phone.”
The relative said the children are “terrified,” have been undergoing counseling and were in school Wednesday.
“They’re kids. They don’t know what to do. They are so busy looking over their shoulder they can’t focus. I hope they get justice.”
The relative said the alleged abuse came to light when one of the children began to act out violently and then told another relative what happened.
She had repeatedly tried to coax the boy into talking about what was upsetting him.
As soon as the family knew, they went to Milford police, the relative said….

New Brett Kavanaugh sexual misconduct accusation sets off calls for Supreme Court impeachment
By Jason Silverstein September 16, 2019
At least five Democratic presidential candidates called for Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh to be impeached after a new report about alleged sexual misconduct from his college years. President Trump, meanwhile, stood by Kavanaugh and said the Justice Department should “rescue” him….

On Saturday, the New York Times published an essay adapted from a book excerpt that claimed one of Kavanaugh’s Yale classmates allegedly saw him with his pants down at a drunken dorm party, with friends pushing his penis into a female student’s hands, when Kavanaugh was a freshman. According to the essay, the classmate told this story to senators and the FBI, but the FBI did not investigate it.
During Kavanaugh’s confirmation process, another Yale classmate, Deborah Ramirez, said Kavanaugh pulled down his pants at another drunken dorm party and thrust his penis at her. She said she swatted it away. The Times essay said it had found additional corroboration for Ramirez’s story, with seven people saying they heard about the incident long before Kavanaugh became a federal judge.
On Sunday, the New York Times issued an editors’ note that stated an earlier version of the essay “did not include one element” of the book’s account of the incident. “The book reports that the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say that she does not recall the incident,” the editors’ note states. “That information has been added to the article.” ….
The first public accusation against Kavanaugh last year came from Christine Blasey Ford, a psychology professor. She said that when she and Kavanaugh were in high school, he drunkenly held her down on a bed, groped her, tried to pull off her clothes and covered her mouth when she tried to scream. Kavanaugh said the alleged incident never happened.
Blasey Ford and Kavanaugh testified before Congress about the accusation, and both said they were “100%” certain of their version of events. The FBI investigated the accusations against Kavanaugh, but agents did not interview him, Blasey Ford or dozens of people who said they had corroborating evidence…..

Unbelievable Is Hard to Watch But Easy to Believe
By Anna Silman – sexual assault Sept. 13, 2019
When Marie*, an 18-year-old woman living in Lynnwood, Washington, said that a masked man had broken into her apartment in the middle of the night and raped her at knifepoint, even those close to her found the story hard to believe. Marie’s demeanor was surprisingly calm and unruffled, and little details of her account kept changing….
Unbelievable, which airs on Netflix this Friday, is a show about sexual assault that assumes the latter. The show — which is led by showrunner Susannah Grant and based on the Marshall Project–ProPublica story and a This American Life episode — is the first of the #MeToo era to focus not just on the moment of violation but also on all the ways our system revictimizes women who are brave enough to come forward….
The show is divided into two story lines. One follows Marie, played by Booksmart’s Kaitlyn Dever, living in Lynnwood back in 2008. Marie has spent her life in foster care; now 18, she is living in a community designed to help young adults transition into independent living. She’s looking forward to getting her driver’s license and has been saving up her Costco wages to buy a car. But then one night, a man breaks into her apartment and rapes her repeatedly. While police initially believe Marie, they soon grow skeptical, especially when her foster mom starts expressing doubts about the credibility of her allegation. During a grueling interrogation, they coerce her into retracting her statement. Then they move to charge her for making a fake rape claim. She loses her job, friends abandon her, and her hopes for the future begin to fall apart.

The second story line, set in Colorado in 2011, features a more familiar true-crime trope: two crusading lady detectives, Karen Duvall (Merritt Wever) and Grace Rasmussen (Toni Collette), team up to investigate a string of rapes that they believe are being perpetrated by a single offender. Duvall and Rasmussen are based on the real detectives who solved Marie’s case, Stacy Galbraith and Edna Hendershot. Unlike many of their male colleagues, these two detectives are calm, patient, and compassionate with their victims, and the moment they come onscreen, you feel soothed knowing that in their steady hands, Marie will soon get the care she deserves. Who could blame you? For years, SVU reassured us that detective work was swift and effective and that in the wake of horrific crimes, Detective Olivia Benson would swoop in to comfort victims and hold the bad guys to account….
Unbelievable is the first show I have seen that captures the slow grind of the system, the torturous waiting period between reporting an assault and seeing justice — if one ever does. The public tends to hear only the headlines: the crime and then the sentence handed down. But victims have to live in that in-between, waiting as their lives become a barrage of depositions and intrusive media requests, having their memories and credibility dissected by high-paid professionals, while their trauma remains theirs to bear alone. Every time the show switched back to Marie’s story line, I became racked with anxiety as I watched the authorities make misstep after misstep. At one point, a detective in another district reaches out to the Lynnwood cops to tell them about a rape that sounds very similar to Marie’s. They shut him down, telling him the connection is not worth investigating because Marie is a liar….
“When you see Marie’s experience, it’s easy to understand why someone might recant, even in a case where she actually was assaulted,” said reporter Ken Armstrong, who co-wrote the original story along with T. Christian Miller. “For her, that was the easiest way out of a situation that had become untenable. She was being confronted, and she just buckled under pressure. And they gave her an opportunity to go home, if she would say what they wanted her to say, so that’s what she did.”
As Armstrong tells me, the detectives in Lynnwood used the Reid technique, a criminal-interrogation technique that has been criticized for its propensity to elicit false confessions. It is excruciating to watch the detectives bluff and manipulate Marie, yet it doesn’t paint them as one-note villains; rather, it shows how poorly the criminal-justice system is equipped to deal with sexual-assault victims, and how easy it is to make catastrophic mistakes if you don’t have the right training. Many police still don’t have adequate education in how to deal with sexual-assault cases, although some advocates are working to change that….
According to RAINN, and based only on its best estimates, less than a third of rapes are reported to the police. Out of a thousand sexual assaults, only 46 will lead to an arrest and fewer than five will result in incarceration. And for those whose cases do enter the criminal-justice system, it’s hardly smooth sailing. Rape cases are some of the most difficult cases to prosecute, based on the fact that they rely so centrally on the victim’s testimony being believed. Unbelievable demonstrates the many preconceptions people have about rape victims, such as the fact that Marie’s foster mom and the police both find her behavior inconsistent with how they believe a victim “should” act. (There is no one way.) It shows the devastating effects of our nationwide rape-kit backlog; after her “confession,” Marie’s rape kit is never analyzed, even though we learn that the DNA evidence in it could have helped the police catch her assailant years before they did….

A Startling Number of Women Say the First Time They Had Sex Was Rape
By Erica Schwiegershausen Sept. 17, 2019
An estimated 6.5 percent of American women’s first sexual experience was rape, according to a nationally representative study published today in The Journal of the American Medical Association.
However, the study’s author, Laura Hawks, a research fellow at Cambridge Health Alliance, told NPR that the number — one in 16 women, or an estimated 3.3 million women nationwide — is likely “just the tip of the iceberg.” The study, which included 13,310 American women ages 18 to 44, looked at data from the National Survey of Family Growth, an annual survey conducted by the CDC, which asks women about their first sexual experience, among other questions. “You can imagine that if we asked this of women of all ages, the absolute number would be many millions higher,” Hawks said.
The study is full of distressing details, including the finding that the average age of the women at the time of their assault was reported as 15. The average age of their partner or assailant was reported as 27…

The Satanic Sex Cult Leader Who Loved Animal Sacrifices, Orgies, and Murder
“The Devil You Know,” a new docuseries premiering Aug. 27 on Viceland, explores the horrifying life of Pazuzu Algarad, a disturbed Satanist who ran a house of horrors.
Nick Schager 08.22.19
(describes graphic crimes)
Pazuzu Algarad (real name: John Lawson) was a self-proclaimed Satanist who reveled in extremeness. With a moniker borrowed from The Exorcist, a face covered in tattoos and his teeth sharpened to fine points, Pazuzu spent his days and nights in his Clemmons, North Carolina, home cutting himself and his buddies, drinking the blood of birds, doing copious drugs, performing ritual sacrifices of rabbits, staging nude orgies, and letting people do whatever they pleased to his abode—including popping a squat in the corner of a room, and then leaving the mess to be eaten by one of his many dogs….

Before it begins trying to derive Meaningful Lessons from its material, The Devil You Know proves a riveting case study of a unique madman. Residing with his mother in Clemmons (a suburb of Winston-Salem), Pazuzu lived and breathed his depraved ethos, which was influenced by a combination of horror movies, ‘80s black metal, and Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan. In copious old photographs, Pazuzu appears to be just as scary as his reputation suggested—minus the split tongue that rumors said he gave himself. He routinely bragged about killing people, and in 2010, he and cohort Nicholas Rizzi were charged in connection with the shooting death of an African-American man, Joseph Emmrick Chandler, near the Yadkin River….
A second, more thorough examination of the property followed, and led to the discovery of two bodies: Tommy Dean Welch and Josh Wetzler, the latter of whom had been missing, much to the concern of former girlfriend Stacey Carter (with whom he’d had a young son), for five years.
Pazuzu had killed and buried these men with the help of two fiancées, Amber Burch and Krystal Matlock, and he had dispatched them in the presence of his mother Cynthia, with whom he lived. Those facts, coupled with Pazuzu’s devil worship, attracted national media attention, and The Devil You Know benefits from the participation of many key figures, as well as considerable archival news reports and police footage of the inside of Pazuzu’s house, which lives up to stomach-churning expectations….

Autopsies show victims at Clemmons house were shot in the head
Michael Hewlett/Winston-Salem Journal Apr 29, 2015
….Dr. Jerri McLemore, a Forsyth County medical examiner who works at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, did the autopsies of both men. McLemore finished the reports earlier this month. McLemore declared both deaths the result of homicide.
Authorities have released few details about the killings, including whether they have found the gun or guns used to kill Welch and Wetzler. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has not said what connection the two men may have had to Algarad and Burch.
According to court documents, Algarad regularly performed “Satanistic rituals” and animal sacrifices at the house.

‘Satanic serial killer’ used ‘fingers of seven murder victims to make devil-symbol’
The victims, whose bodies were all found between 2002 and 2004, were each found with two fingers amputated, it is reported
By Ana Lacasa 15 FEB 2019
A suspected Satanic serial killer has been arrested for allegedly murdering seven people and cutting hexagrams into their skin.
Tomas Maldonado Cera, 48, is accused of mutilating his victims by removing their fingers and using them to create a devil-worshipping symbol on their bodies.
Nicknamed “El Satanico” (the Satanist), Maldonado was arrested in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Columbia, after the body of Brenda Parajo Bruno was found in a woodland area.
Bruno was reportedly raped and killed after taking her disabled daughter to a rehabilitation centre where Maldonado is said to have been working as a driver.
Maldonado, who is married with four children, was made the main suspect and reports state he had had a sexual relationship with Bruno, which her family denies.

The suspect was arrested and held in preventative prison at El Bosque prison in Barranquilla after being charged with the murder.
Authorities then quickly linked him to the deaths of four men and another two women.
All the bodies of the victims had similar features, reports said.
Each body reportedly had two fingers amputated and had middle and ring fingers placed so they created the “Voor” symbol, which according to local authorities is considered as a sign of saying “I love Satan, I love Lucifer” and is often used in a ritual supposedly to call demons.
The bodies, all found between 2002 and 2004, also featured hexagrams cut into their skin with a knife, it is reported….
Authorities are investigating the Satanic links of two more murders, a woman who was the girlfriend of the suspect until she disappeared, and a 14 year old boy…..

The mad scientist behind America’s mind-control quest with LSD
By Larry Getlen September 16, 2019
In his mid-20s, future crime kingpin Whitey Bulger spent time in the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary for hijacking and armed robbery. While there, he volunteered to be part of a drug experiment that sought to find a cure for schizophrenia.
Or so he was told.
In reality, the experiment sought to determine how much LSD the human mind could take before it snapped. Bulger was fed large doses of the drug nearly every day for 15 months without being told what it was.
He later wrote of the horrors he experienced during this time.
“Hallucinating. Hours of paranoia and feeling violent. We experienced horrible periods of living nightmares and even blood coming out of the walls. Guys turning to skeletons in front of me. I saw a camera change into the head of a dog. I felt like I was going insane.”
When Bulger asked to be released from the experiment, he was refused since, he was told, “We are close to finding the cure.”
Bulger, who was later convicted of 11 murders, may be an unsympathetic victim, but these same experiments were being conducted on unsuspecting civilians at the behest of one power-mad CIA official.

“Poisoner in Chief: Sidney Gottlieb and the CIA Search for Mind Control” (Henry Holt) by Stephen Kinzer tells the story of Gottlieb, a chemist obsessed with finding a way to control the human brain, no matter how many innocent minds he destroyed in the process….
Born in The Bronx in 1918, Gottlieb received a doctorate in biochemistry and after working several research jobs for the government, was recruited by the CIA in 1951 by Deputy Director Allen Dulles, who would later lead the agency.
Dulles believed that there were undiscovered methods for controlling the human mind, and that these processes could help the US win wars. He hired Gottlieb to lead the effort into mind-control research, which he named “Artichoke,” by any means necessary.
Many in the intelligence community were convinced that the Soviet Union and China had made great advancements in brainwashing, and they sought to perfect the technique themselves. Hypnosis and electroshock were among the methods tested, but Gottlieb became obsessed with the potential of LSD.
After sampling the drug himself and feeling “as though I am in a kind of transparent sausage skin that covers my whole body,” he began testing it on military volunteers. Soon after, he stopped caring whether people had volunteered and began administering the drug to unwitting subjects, including CIA trainees.

Gottlieb and many around him truly believed that LSD held the secret to controlling minds.
“CIA employees were given LSD and then induced to violate oaths and promises,” Kinzer writes. “In one [mock interrogation], a military officer swore never to reveal a secret, revealed it under the influence of LSD, and afterward forgot the entire episode .?.?. Gottlieb came to believe that [LSD] could be the key to mind control. He was the first acid visionary.”….
Gottlieb, given free rein by the CIA, authorized and funded “experiments” like this across the country, victimizing countless innocent people who simply sought relief for medical and psychological issues.
“Under Gottlieb’s direction, with Dulles’ encouragement .?.?. Artichoke had became one of the most violently abusive projects ever sponsored by an agency of the United States government,” Kinzer writes.
The eventual breadth of the program, which was rechristened MK-ULTRA and given an even larger budget, was stunning….
In time, Gottlieb was running similar safe houses around the world, and his experiments became even more audacious and cruel. When he decided to try to learn just how much LSD the human mind could take, he recruited prison doctors around the country. While Bulger was one victim, most were African American.

He also got more doctors and hospitals around the country involved, funneling the money through front groups to hide the CIA’s involvement.
At the Boston Psychopathic Hospital, “hundreds of students from Harvard, Emerson and MIT were paid $15 to drink a little vial of a clear, colorless, odorless liquid that might produce an altered state.” It was later found that “none of those involved in the experiments had the proper training or understanding to guide participants .?.?. [and] several [students] had negative reactions. One hanged herself in a clinic bathroom.”
In experiments conducted by a New York allergist named Harold Abramson, who received $85,000 from Gottlieb, Kinzer writes that “12 ‘pre-puberty’ boys were fed psilocybin, and 14 children between the ages of 6 and 11, diagnosed as schizophrenic, were given 100 micrograms of LSD each day for six weeks.”….
Gottlieb continued on at the CIA, working on more conventional spy-craft devices like rocket launchers and bomb sensors to help the Vietnam War effort.
He retired in 1973 after 22 years with the agency, destroying all the MK-ULTRA files (or so he thought) before he left.
When another secret CIA program was exposed by reporter Seymour Hersh in 1974, it ignited a slew of investigations into the CIA, and Gottlieb’s name was made public in regard to the LSD experiments in 1975. He eventually testified before Congress several times, but only after being granted immunity from prosecution.
By the end of his life, he was working as a speech pathologist for children. He died in 1999, and never paid for his cruelty….

The Secret History of Fort Detrick, the CIA’s Base for Mind Control Experiments
Today, it’s a cutting-edge lab. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was the center of the U.S. government’s darkest experiments.
By STEPHEN KINZER September 15, 2019
In 1954, a prison doctor in Kentucky isolated seven black inmates and fed them “double, triple and quadruple” doses of LSD for 77 days straight. No one knows what became of the victims. They may have died without knowing they were part of the CIA’s highly secretive program to develop ways to control minds—a program based out of a little-known Army base with a dark past, Fort Detrick.
Suburban sprawl has engulfed Fort Detrick, an Army base 50 miles from Washington in the Maryland town of Frederick. Seventy-six years ago, however, when the Army selected Detrick as the place to develop its super-secret plans to wage germ warfare, the area around the base looked much different. In fact, it was chosen for its isolation. That’s because Detrick, still thriving today as the Army’s principal base for biological research and now encompassing nearly 600 buildings on 13,000 acres, was for years the nerve center of the CIA’s hidden chemical and mind control empire.

….For decades, though, much of what went on at the base was a closely held secret. Directors of the CIA mind control program MK-ULTRA, which used Detrick as a key base, destroyed most of their records in 1973. Some of its secrets have been revealed in declassified documents, through interviews and as a result of congressional investigations. Together, those sources reveal Detrick’s central role in MK-ULTRA and in the manufacture of poisons intended to kill foreign leaders….
Allen Dulles, who ran the CIA’s covert-operations directorate and would soon be promoted to direct the agency, considered his mind control project—first named Bluebird, then Artichoke, then MK-ULTRA—to be of supreme importance, the difference between the survival and extinction of the United States.
In 1951, Dulles hired a chemist to design and oversee a systematic search for the key to mind control. The man he chose, Sidney Gottlieb, was not part of the silver-spoon aristocracy from which most officers of the early CIA were recruited….
Gottlieb searched relentlessly for a way to blast away human minds so new ones could be implanted in their place. He tested an astonishing variety of drug combinations, often in conjunction with other torments like electroshock or sensory deprivation. In the United States, his victims were unwitting subjects at jails and hospitals, including a federal prison in Atlanta and an addiction research center in Lexington, Kentucky.
In Europe and East Asia, Gottlieb’s victims were prisoners in secret detention centers. One of those centers, built in the basement of a former villa in the German town of Kronberg, might have been the first secret CIA prison. While CIA scientists and their former Nazi comrades sat before a stone fireplace discussing the techniques of mind control, prisoners in basement cells were being prepared as subjects in brutal and sometimes fatal experiments.

These were the most gruesome experiments the U.S. government ever conducted on human beings. In one of the them, seven prisoners in Lexington, Kentucky, were given multiple doses of LSD for 77 days straight. In another, captured North Koreans were given depressant drugs, then dosed with potent stimulants and exposed to intense heat and electroshock while they were in the weakened state of transition. These experiments destroyed many minds and caused an unknown number of deaths. Many of the potions, pills and aerosols administered to victims were created at Detrick.
One of the most well-known victims of the MK-ULTRA experiments was Frank Olson. Olson was a CIA officer who had spent his entire career at Detrick and knew its deepest secrets. When he began musing about quitting the CIA, his comrades saw a security threat. Gottlieb summoned the team to a retreat and arranged for Olson to be drugged with LSD. A week later, Olson died in a plunge from a hotel window in New York. The CIA called it suicide. Olson’s family believes he was thrown from the window to prevent him from revealing what was brewing inside Camp Detrick….

The CIA’s Secret Quest For Mind Control: Torture, LSD And A ‘Poisoner In Chief’
September 9, 2019 Heard on Fresh Air Terry Gross
….On the CIA hiring Nazi doctors and Japanese torturers to learn methods
The CIA mind control project, MK-ULTRA, was essentially a continuation of work that began in Japanese and Nazi concentration camps.
Stephen Kinzer, author of ‘Poisoner in Chief’
The CIA mind control project, MK-ULTRA, was essentially a continuation of work that began in Japanese and Nazi concentration camps. Not only was it roughly based on those experiments, but the CIA actually hired the vivisectionists and the torturers who had worked in Japan and in Nazi concentration camps to come and explain what they had found out so that we could build on their research.
For example, Nazi doctors had conducted extensive experiments with mescaline at the Dachau concentration camp, and the CIA was very interested in figuring out whether mescaline could be the key to mind control that was one of their big avenues of investigation. So they hired the Nazi doctors who had been involved in that project to advise them.
Another thing the Nazis provided was information about poison gases like sarin, which is still being used. Nazi doctors came to America to Fort Detrick in Maryland, which was the center of this project, to lecture to CIA officers to tell them how long it took for people to die from sarin.

On the more extreme experiments Gottlieb conducted overseas
Gottlieb and the CIA established secret detention centers throughout Europe and East Asia, particularly in Japan, Germany and the Philippines, which were largely under American control in the period of the early ’50s, and therefore Gottlieb didn’t have to worry about any legal entanglements in these places. …
CIA officers in Europe and Asia were capturing enemy agents and others who they felt might be suspected persons or were otherwise what they called “expendable.” They would grab these people and throw them into cells and then test all kinds of, not just drug potions, but other techniques, like electroshock, extremes of temperature, sensory isolation — all the meantime bombarding them with questions, trying to see if they could break down resistance and find a way to destroy the human ego. So these were projects designed not only to understand the human mind but to figure out how to destroy it….

The siblings who escaped the Children of God cult By Mike Farrell BBC Scotland News 3 October 2019 Jonathan Watt and Verity Carter’s father was the first man to be convicted of sexual abuse linked to the Children of God cult in Scotland.
The cult started in the US in the 1960s but Jonathan and Verity were brought up under its strict teachings in “communes” around Scotland in the 80s and early 90s.
The religious sect, which was also known as The Family, has faced allegations of widespread sexual and physical abuse of children, including sexual violence, incest, and brainwashing.
Last year, Verity and Jonathan’s father Alexander Watt was convicted of four charges of sexually abusing his daughter and another child in Renfrewshire and on the east coast of Scotland when they were part of the cult.
Following his conviction, Verity, who is now 39, began to speak out about her ordeal but her younger brother has never publicly discussed his upbringing before.

Jonathan told BBC Scotland’s The Nine he was not sexually abused but was the subject of “daily beatings” while growing up in the cult.
He says: “The only way you can sustain a cult is you’ve got to have total control. You’re living in a world inside a world. You’ve got no contact with the outside world.
“The only way to stop contact is to kill curiosity, and the only way to do that is basically to drill into you from when you were born that you’re useless, you’re worthless, you’re ugly. Unfortunately with a cult like that, where you are outside of the law, it’s a safe haven for some abusive, violent adults.”
The Children of God began in the United States in the late 1960s and built on the ‘free love’ philosophy of counter-culture America.
Its founder, David Berg, told members that God was love and love was sex, so there should be no limits, regardless of age or relationship.

Mom Sentenced in Deaths of 2 Girls Banished by Doomsday Cult
A Colorado woman has received life in prison without parole in the deaths of her daughters who were banished to a car without food or water by members of a doomsday religious group because the girls were thought to have been impure.
By Associated Press, Wire Service Content Oct. 1, 2019
TELLURIDE, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado woman will spend the rest of her life behind bars for killing her two daughters after she and other members of a doomsday religious group banished them to a car without food or water because the girls were thought to have been impure.
Nashika Bramble was sentenced to life in prison without parole Tuesday in the deaths of Makayla Roberts, 10, and Hannah Marshall, 8. She was convicted in July of two counts of first-degree murder.

The sisters’ bodies were found in September 2017 in a car parked on a farm near Norwood, a town of about 500 people 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of the Telluride ski resort. Heat, dehydration and starvation killed the girls, and they had been dead for several weeks before their bodies were found, authorities said.
Bramble was a member of a religious group that moved to the property earlier that year, court documents say.
Investigators say they believe the group’s spiritual leader, Madani Ceus of Haiti, declared that the two girls were possessed by unclean spirits during a past life and ordered them kept in a car without food or water for days as the others waited for the apocalypse before the 2017 solar eclipse….

Feds take down the world’s ‘largest dark web child porn marketplace’
Prosecutors say the vast online store was run by Jong Woo Son, currently serving a prison sentence in South Korea on charges related to child pornography.
The dark web, a section of the internet that can only be accessed via a Tor browser, is designed to protect users’ tracks online and obscure digital footprints
Oct. 16, 2019 By Cyrus Farivar and Andrew Blankstein
WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors have filed multiple charges against a 23-year-old South Korean man accused of running what they call the world’s “largest dark web child porn marketplace.”
The now-shuttered English-language site, called “Welcome to Video,” contained more than 200,000 unique videos or almost 8 terabytes of data showing sex acts involving children, toddlers and infants, according to the 18-page criminal indictment unsealed here Wednesday, and processed 7,300 Bitcoin transactions worth more than $730,000.
According to prosecutors, the vast online store was run by Jong Woo Son, a South Korean citizen currently serving an 18-month prison sentence in his home country after his conviction on charges related to child pornography. The site operated from June 2015 until it was seized and shut down by U.S. authorities in March 2018.

At a press conference Wednesday morning, U.S. officials said 337 suspected users of the site had been arrested worldwide to date….
In addition to Son, more than 300 other suspects have been arrested in South Korea as of Wednesday, while still more suspects were identified in other countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States, including a Washington, D.C., man who was caught with the equivalent of 50 years worth of video footage he had downloaded.
The website ran solely on the dark web, a section of the internet that can only be accessed via a Tor browser, which is designed to protect users’ tracks online and obscure digital footprints. Users could purchase videos using cryptocurrency and an annual membership was priced at 0.03 bitcoins (at current exchange rates, around $300).
Members earned points by uploading new and popular videos to the site or by inviting new members. The site sought only child sexual abuse imagery, according to prosecutors — its landing page stated in red bold type: “Do not upload adult porn.” Prosecutors have also filed a related civil forfeiture case, seeking to seize Bitcoin assets held across 24 different accounts…. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/crime-courts/feds-take-down-world-s-largest-dark-web-child-porn-n1066511

Department of Justice Office of Public Affairs FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday, October 16, 2019 South Korean National and Hundreds of Others Charged Worldwide in the Takedown of the Largest Darknet Child Pornography Website, Which was Funded by Bitcoin
Dozens of Minor Victims Who Were Being Actively Abused by the Users of the Site Rescued
Jong Woo Son, 23, a South Korean national, was indicted by a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia for his operation of Welcome To Video, the largest child sexual exploitation market by volume of content. The nine-count indictment was unsealed today along with a parallel civil forfeiture action. Son has also been charged and convicted in South Korea and is currently in custody serving his sentence in South Korea. An additional 337 site users residing in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington State and Washington, D.C. as well as the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Czech Republic, Canada, Ireland, Spain, Brazil and Australia have been arrested and charged….
According to the indictment, on March 5, 2018, agents from the IRS-CI, HSI, National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom, and Korean National Police in South Korea arrested Son and seized the server that he used to operate a Darknet market that exclusively advertised child sexual exploitation videos available for download by members of the site. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately eight terabytes of child sexual exploitation videos, which is one of the largest seizures of its kind. The images, which are currently being analyzed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), contained over 250,000 unique videos, and 45 percent of the videos currently analyzed contain new images that have not been previously known to exist.

Welcome To Video offered these videos for sale using the cryptocurrency bitcoin. Typically, sites of this kind give users a forum to trade in these depictions. This Darknet website is among the first of its kind to monetize child exploitation videos using bitcoin. In fact, the site itself boasted over one million downloads of child exploitation videos by users. Each user received a unique bitcoin address when the user created an account on the website. An analysis of the server revealed that the website had more than one million bitcoin addresses, signifying that the website had capacity for at least one million users.
The agencies have shared data from the seized server with law enforcement around the world to assist in identifying and prosecuting customers of the site. This has resulted in leads sent to 38 countries and yielded arrests of 337 subjects around the world. The operation has resulted in searches of residences and businesses of approximately 92 individuals in the United States. Notably, the operation is responsible for the rescue of at least 23 minor victims residing in the United States, Spain and the United Kingdom, who were being actively abused by the users of the site….

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a beloved national icon, rocked by sexual abuse and harassment
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner Bob Paulson — at a 2016 news conference with Janet Merlo, center, and Linda Davidson, right — apologized to women subject to sexual harassment and abuse. “You came to the RCMP wanting to personally contribute to your community and we failed you,” he said. “We hurt you. For that, I am truly sorry.” By Amanda Coletta Oct. 17, 2019
Silina Sargis showed up at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police academy in 2010 to start what she hoped would be her dream career. But soon, she says, a sergeant major began harassing and bullying her….
Like the maple leaf and the moose, the Mountie with the scarlet tunic and the wide-brimmed Stetson is one of the most widely recognized and beloved symbols of Canada. But now sexual misconduct allegations are rocking the institution.
Hundreds of women have come forward to describe the national police force as an old boys’ club, where men boorishly commented on women’s bodies and made unwanted advances. Women report finding sex toys left on their desks and pornographic images in their files. They say men exposed themselves, groped and raped them.

The RCMP has set aside $150 million to settle two class-action lawsuits over sexual misconduct — the first in 2016 with female officers, and now, with women who worked or volunteered for the agency in non-policing roles. Federal Judge Michael Phelan held a hearing on the settlement Thursday in Vancouver. He is expected to rule on whether to approve it within the next month.
Women who experienced sexual harassment within the RCMP say they were frightened into silence. When they did complain, they say, they were ostracized or suffered retaliation….
The settlements cover claims dating to 1974, when women were first permitted to join the RCMP. More than 3,100 applied for the 2016 class-action fund — three times the number expected. But that might represent just a fraction of the complaints. The true number might never be known publicly, because some are settled out of court and subject to nondisclosure agreements.
Attorney Angela Bespflug, who represents two of the three lead plaintiffs in the current action, says she has been contacted by more than 500 potential class members. If the court approves the settlement, she says, she expects the number of class members to double…. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/the-royal-canadian-mounted-police-a-beloved-national-icon-rocked-by-sexual-abuse-and-harassment/2019/10/16/ddfeb8a8-eb8b-11e9-a329-7378fbfa1b63_story.html

Diocese pays $4.4M in abuse compensation to 57 victims October 17, 2019
GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania diocese has announced a nearly $4.4 million payout to 57 victims of sexual abuse by its clergy and seminarians.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg made the announcement Thursday about the payment through the out-of-court compensation program.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that most dioceses in the state set up similar compensation funds in the wake of a 2018 grand jury report that detailed a seven-decade history of allegations of sexual abuse by members of the clergy and subsequent cover-ups by bishops. The Greensburg diocese says it paid $4,350,000, averaging out to about $75,000 for each claimant…. https://www.apnews.com/9383f5362a98436ab9a1177fe7e7ddac

Without oversight, scores of accused priests commit crimes
By CLAUDIA LAUER and MEGHAN HOYER October 5, 2019
Nearly 1,700 priests and other clergy members that the Roman Catholic Church considers credibly accused of child sexual abuse are living under the radar with little to no oversight from religious authorities or law enforcement, decades after the first wave of the church abuse scandal roiled U.S. dioceses, an Associated Press investigation has found.
These priests, deacons, monks and lay people now teach middle-school math. They counsel survivors of sexual assault. They work as nurses and volunteer at nonprofits aimed at helping at-risk kids. They live next to playgrounds and day care centers. They foster and care for children.
And in their time since leaving the church, dozens have committed crimes, including sexual assault and possessing child pornography, the AP’s analysis found.
A recent push by Roman Catholic dioceses across the U.S. to publish the names of those it considers to be credibly accused has opened a window into the daunting problem of how to monitor and track priests who often were never criminally charged and, in many cases, were removed from or left the church to live as private citizens….
The review found hundreds of priests held positions of trust, many with access to children. More than 160 continued working or volunteering in churches, including dozens in Catholic dioceses overseas and some in other denominations. Roughly 190 obtained professional licenses to work in education, medicine, social work and counseling — including 76 who, as of August, still had valid credentials in those fields…..

California sex abuse law likely to spur thousands of claims
By DON THOMPSON October 14, 2019
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Thousands of lawsuits will be filed against alleged child molesters as well as the institutions that employed them under a new California law taking effect next year, attorneys predicted Monday.
The California School Boards Association called the new law an “existential threat” to smaller school districts. Attorneys said the Roman Catholic Church, Boy Scouts of America and other institutions will also face a flood of lawsuits that could force bankruptcies.
They are newly possible because the law that Gov. Gavin Newsom approved on Sunday gives victims of childhood sexual abuse until age 40, up from age 26, to file lawsuits. It also gives victims of all ages three years to sue, starting Jan. 1.
More than 400 lawsuits were filed in New York state in August on just the first day that state opened a one-year window for victims to sue. New York and New Jersey this year both raised their statutes of limitations to age 55, with New Jersey’s law taking effect in December.

About 1,000 lawsuits, the vast majority against the Catholic church, were filed when California lifted the statute of limitations for one year in 2003, recalled John Manly, who represents Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman and other survivors of USA Gymnastics sexual abuse, as well as alleged victims of former University of Southern California gynecologist George Tyndall.
But victims are much more willing to speak up than they were 16 years ago, he said. And the new law allows for triple damages if victims can prove that employers tried to cover up the abuse.
“I think you’re going to see organizations that have been essentially engaging in systemic criminality by protecting pedophiles are about to be exposed. It’s not just the Catholic hierarchy, it’s private schools, it’s public schools, it’s physicians,” Manly said. “This could cause some organizations to go bankrupt. It probably will.”
He predicted 5,000 to 10,000 lawsuits under the new state law….
He said the church paid more than $1.2 billion to hundreds of victims in 2003, and hundreds of millions of dollars since then for therapy and other services to survivors. Six California dioceses last month began a new private independent compensation program for child victims…. https://www.apnews.com/ba57790c7a5e4394b10a6cfd5add775c
