Hillary Clinton Freed Child Rapist
Hillary Clinton’s role in a 40-year-old rape case became the focal point of a viral meme in 2016, but the claims made about it were mostly inaccurate.
http://www.snopes.com/hillary-clinton-freed-child-rapist-laughed-about-it/

EXCLUSIVE: Child rape victim comes forward for the first time in 40 years to call Hillary Clinton a ‘liar’ who defended her rapist by smearing her, blocking evidence and callously laughing that she knew he was guilty
‘Hillary Clinton is not for women and children,’ says Kathy Shelton, 54, who was 12 years old when she was raped by Thomas Alfred Taylor in Arkansas
Clinton was the rapist’s defense lawyer, pleading him down to ‘unlawful fondling of a minor’
The 41-year-old drifter served less than a year in prison
The plea came after Clinton was able to block the admission of forensic evidence that linked her client to the crime
Shelton says she’s furious that Clinton has been portraying herself as a lifelong advocate of women and girls on the campaign trail
Clinton accused Shelton of ‘seeking out older men’ in the case and demanded that she undergo a grueling court-ordered psychiatric examination
The presidential candidate later laughed while discussing aspects of the case in a recently-unearthed audiotaped interview from the 1980s
By Alana Goodman In Springdale, Arkansas For Dailymail.com
9 August 2016
A child rape victim says she cannot forgive Hillary Clinton for defending her rapist in court 40 years ago, saying the Democratic presidential candidate attacked her credibility despite knowing that her assailant was guilty – and later laughed about it in a taped interview.
Kathy Shelton was just 12 years old when a 41-year-old drifter raped her on the side of a desolate Arkansas road in 1975.
Now, four decades later, she has agreed to be named and pictured for the first time in this Daily Mail Online exclusive because she is furious that her rapist’s defense attorney – Hillary Clinton – has been portraying herself as a lifelong advocate of women and girls on the campaign trail….
In 1975, Clinton served as the defense lawyer for Thomas Alfred Taylor, a 41-year-old factory worker accused of raping Shelton after luring her to his car.
Taylor pleaded down to ‘unlawful fondling of a minor’ and served less than a year in prison after Clinton was able to block the admission of forensic evidence that linked her client to the crime.
In a lengthy interview with the Daily Mail Online, Shelton said Clinton is ‘lying’ when she claims to be a lifelong defender of women and girls.
Shelton said Clinton accused her during the case of ‘seeking out older men’, and demanded that the 12-year-old undergo a grueling court-ordered psychiatric examination to determine whether she was ‘mentally unstable’….
Clinton defended her role, saying that as an attorney she was required to defend her client to the best of her ability, despite the nature of the crime. ‘I asked to be relieved of that responsibility but I was not and I had a professional duty to represent my client to the best of my ability, which I did,’ Clinton said.
According to Shelton, Clinton’s public response left many questions unanswered.
‘She didn’t mention that she was laughing and saying [Taylor] was guilty. I guess as a lawyer it is your responsibility to defend someone,’ Shelton said.
‘But if she’s for women and children, why would she defend someone knowing that a 12-year-old got raped?’ she added….
Shelton recounted the brutal assault that she said left her with severe internal and external injuries. She said she was knocked into a coma, and later required stitches in her genital area.
‘When I came out of the coma, I had several stitches down there. They tore me up bad,’ she said. ‘The doctors said there was a 99 percent chance I couldn’t have kids. I have been with a couple men after that, it took me a long time to grow there. But I never had any kids.’
As a result of the attack, Shelton said doctors told her it was unlikely she would ever be able to have children. She said she was devastated by the prognosis.
‘When I was younger I really wanted a kid so bad,’ said Shelton, who has never had children. ‘I love kids.’….
Hillary Clinton joked about the guilt of an accused child rapist she defended in court, according to long-buried audio recordings from the 1980s that were first published in 2014.
During a taped interview with Arkansas reporter Roy Reed in the 1980s, Clinton can be heard laughing at several points while recounting her legal defense of Thomas Alfred Taylor, the 41-year-old man who was accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in 1975….
Clinton said she spoke to a child psychology expert who told her that ‘children in early adolescence tend to exaggerate or romanticize sexual experiences’, and that this was particularly true for ‘adolescents with disorganized families,’ such as Shelton’s.
Although Clinton’s legal maneuver would likely be prohibited today under Arkansas rape shield act, the law was not passed until two years after the case.
Shelton said one of her worst memories of the case was being questioned repeatedly by appointed experts….
Taylor, who had been facing 30 years to life in prison, was able to plead to significantly reduced charges….
According to court records, Taylor was sentenced to one year in the county jail with two months reduced for time served.
At one point on the tape, Clinton suggested to Reed that she believed Taylor was guilty of rape.
‘Of course, [Taylor] denied [raping her]… I had him take a polygraph, which he passed – which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs,’ said Clinton, chuckling.
Shelton said this was one of the most upsetting parts of the tape….

The Story Behind A Campaign Line: Did Clinton Laugh At A Rape Victim?
November 3, 2016 Heard on Morning Edition
When the presidential candidates debated last month for the second time, Donald Trump claimed that Hillary Clinton once laughed at a victim of rape. The allegation stems from a case that Clinton worked as a young lawyer in 1975 — she defended one of two men accused of raping then 12-year-old Kathy Shelton.
Trump featured Shelton in a press conference that was broadcast on Facebook Live ahead of the debate and then brought her in to sit with the audience. Trump spoke about Shelton on stage, arguing Clinton mistreated her….
Shelton told Morning Edition’s Steve Inskeep that on that day in 1975 she was stopped while riding her bike to church and beaten, raped and dumped out of a truck….
As the prosecutor recalls it, Rodham tried to get out of it.
“She apparently went to the judge, and he refused to let her out,” Gibson said. “And at that point, she fired all guns. She mounted an excellent defense, I’ll give her credit for that.”
Gibson says she challenged the physical evidence, and also raised questions about the victim’s story and her credibility. With the case looking doubtful, prosecutors accepted a plea bargain. The attacker received a short prison term and a fine….
After reviewing the transcript decades later, Reid says Clinton never laughed at a rape victim.
“She was laughing at the vagaries of the legal system that play out every day across America in one way or another,” he told NPR.
Shelton has a different interpretation.
“To me she’s saying, they’re guilty, and she’s laughing about it,” she said….
However, she told NPR, as she better grasped the story, she does feel Clinton traumatized her a second time in the justice system….
Shelton’s lawyer today is Candice Jackson. She argues that Clinton went too far, by questioning the victim’s reliability….

Former TV reporter says Bill Clinton sexually assaulted her in 1980s By Julia Boccagno CBS News October 19, 2016
Hours before the third and final presidential debate, Leslie Millwee, a former TV news reporter for a local station in Arkansas, accused Bill Clinton of sexually assaulting her three times in 1980, while he was governor, Breitbart News reported.
Millwee said that all of the incidents occurred while she was working on a story in the station’s tiny editing room. Two of the three assaults, she added, involved then-Gov. Clinton rubbing his genitalia against her.
“And he came in behind me,” she told Aaron Klein. “Started hunching me to the point that he had an orgasm. He’s trying to touch my breasts. And I’m just sitting there very stiffly, just waiting for him to leave me alone. And I’m asking him the whole time, ‘Please do not do this. Do not touch me. Do not hunch me. I do not want this.’”
The lewd behavior also allegedly occurred outside the perimeter of the now defunct station KLMN-TV, which covered the Fort Smith and Fayetteville markets. Millwee also said then-Gov. Clinton unexpectedly showed up at her house and began incessantly knocking on her door. At the time, Millwee was living with her grandmother, and she feared that Clinton’s promiscuity would eventually reach her doorstep.
“He knocked on the door for probably five, ten minutes,” she said. “Knocking. Calling my name. Saying, ‘I know you are home. Please answer the door.’ I did not answer the door.”
Millwee described the last incident as the “last straw.” After discussing it with her grandmother, she agreed that she should leave the station….
She added that she wanted to share her story in 1998 when the Monica Lewinsky and Kathleen Willey narratives began unfolding, but, at the same time, Millwee said, she feared the repercussions of doing so — how it would impact her family and career.
“And I watched the way the Clintons and Hillary slandered those women,” Millwee said in the interview. “Harassed them. Did unthinkable things to them. And I just did not want to be part of that. I had very small children at the time.”
Milwee claimed that she told three friends about her experiences with President Clinton in the 1990s. Two of the three were quoted in the original report– verifying Millwee’s story and character.
One of them — Richard Scott — is a staunch Hillary Clinton supporter and even contributed small donations to the campaign. “Leslie is one of the most frank, credible people I know,” said Scott. “She is not manipulative about what she says concerning people or events she is involved in. She tells it like it is….

Trump Rape Accuser to Refile Suit in New York By JOSH RUSSELL Thursday, September 22, 2016
MANHATTAN (CN) – A lawsuit filed by an anonymous plaintiff accusing Donald Trump of raping a teenager in the 1990’s and threatening to kill her family, will be re-filed with an additional witness on board, the woman’s attorney revealed Thursday.
Thomas Meagher, attorney for the Jane Doe plaintiff said they plan to re-file the complaint, accompanied by a new witness afidavit, as soon as the end of next week.
The original lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed on September 16th.
The June 20, 2016, complaint accused the Republican presidential nominee and billionaire Jeffrey Epstein of rape, sexual misconduct, criminal sexual acts, sexual abuse, forcible touching, assault, battery, intentional and reckless infliction of emotional distress, duress, false imprisonment, and defamation.
It also included two declarations of support of the Jane Doe plaintiff’s request for protective order.
The first declaration, signed by Jane Doe herself, detailed Trump’s alleged “savage sexual attack” on the then-13-year-old plaintiff.
The plaintiff claims she was raped by Trump during a 1994 summer party thrown by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein at an Upper East Side mansion on East 71st St.
The Jane Doe plaintiff claims Trump ignored her loud pleas to stop, struck her with an open hand and threatened to harm, if not kill her and her entire family if she ever revealed details of the assault….

Rape Lawsuit Against Donald Trump Dismissed — for Now
The plaintiff’s attorney says the lawsuit was will be refiled with information from a new witness. David Mikkelson Sep 19, 2016
Proceedings in a federal lawsuit filed in New York, accusing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump of repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl over 20 years ago at several Upper East Side parties hosted by convicted sex offender and notorious billionaire investor Jeffrey Epstein, have been voluntarily dismissed by the complainant.
A pretrial conference scheduled for 9 September 2016 was delayed, and on 16 September 2016, Thomas Francis Meagher, the attorney for the anonymous plaintiff (identified as “Jane Doe”), filed a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal without prejudice with the court.
However, that doesn’t mean the case is necessarily going away for good. According to Meagher, the plaintiff will be filing a new lawsuit. “An additional witness has been identified and her declaration will accompany the new complaint,” he said….

Appco: Workers allegedly forced to ‘shove cigarettes up bottoms’ after missing sales targets
By the National Reporting Team’s Lorna Knowles and Elise Worthington
Young charity workers were forced to lick underwear, cross dress and take part in obscene cigarette rituals, according to lawyers suing the marketing giant Appco.
The shocking allegations are the latest to emerge as part of an $85 million class action against the Appco Group in the Federal Court of Australia.
The Appco Group is one of the world’s biggest fundraising agencies and rattles the tin on behalf of some of Australia’s best known charities, including Surf Life Saving Australia and The Starlight Foundation.
But its workers, sometimes known as “charity muggers” or “chuggers”, claim they were overworked, grossly underpaid and bullied.
Lawyer Rory Markham told the ABC more than 500 former workers had come forward since he filed the class action against the Appco Group last month.
Mr Markham said some alleged that they were forced to cross dress, take part in “cockfights” and lick underpants if they did not meet their daily sales targets.
Workers in Tasmania also allege they were forced to participate in an obscene ritual involving cigarettes….

BROKEN HOMES By Linton Besser, Poppy Stockell, Elise Worthington November 14, 2016
These are Australia’s most vulnerable kids, betrayed and neglected, not only by their parents but by the system designed to protect them.
They’re known as ‘resi kids’ after the group homes they live in, run by private operators and charities. Some were taken into care as babies, others after years of abuse. They’re often difficult to manage but desperately in need of help.
In this searing Four Corners investigation, we reveal that rather than protecting and nurturing these children, some private operators are treating them as badly as the families they escaped.
“What I can’t wrap my head around is why children are removed because they’re neglected, only to end up being a teenager in a resi house still neglected.” Child Protection Worker
It’s prompted some in the child protection system to brand their treatment a national failure and call for the entire resi care system to be shut down…. http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/stories/2016/11/14/4572365.htm

Former King’s students to testify about abuse Tuesday, 25 October 2016
Two former students of The King’s School in Sydney are expected to give evidence on Tuesday at the abuse royal commission about sexual assaults by older students in the 1960s and 70s.
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse is investigating the prestigious Parramatta private boy’s school in a set of hearings devoted to “children with harmful sexual behaviours”.
In his introduction last week, counsel assisting David Lloyd told the commission one of the men was sexually abused by a year 12 student and felt he was powerless to stop it because it was accepted that older boys could dominate younger ones….

Michael Jackson ran the ‘most sophisticated child sexual abuse’ operation in history: suit
BY Nancy Dillon Stephen Rex Brown NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Tuesday, September 13, 2016
Michael Jackson operated the most sophisticated child sex abuse operation “the world has known,” an alleged victim of the King of Pop claims in new documents.
The shocking claims are included in an amended complaint filed by Wade Robson, a choreographer who was taken under Jackson’s wing as a child.
In the new filings, Robson, 33, alleges that Jackson and his inner circle sought out children in systematic fashion through two companies, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures. The companies — ostensibly dedicated to creating and disseminating Jackson’s entertainment — served “dual purposes,” Robson’s lawyer told the Daily News.
“MJJ Productions operated the most sophisticated child sexual abuse procurement and facilitation operation the world has known,” Robson’s lawyer Vince Finaldi said Monday.
“Although MJJ Productions on its face was a multimedia company dedicated to creating and distributing Michael Jackson’s music and entertainment, it actually served a dual purpose, and that was locating, producing and enabling his sexual abuse of kids,” he said….

Corporate Shells Hid Jacko’s Kiddie Abuse, Woman Says By MIKE HEUER
LOS ANGELES (CN) – A 42-year-old woman claimed in court Tuesday that Michael Jackson sexually abused her for three years, beginning when she was 12, and that he set up two companies as “the most sophisticated public child sexual abuse procurement and facilitation organizations the world has known.”
Jane AA Doe sued Doe 1 and 2, both California corporations, in Superior Court. She says Jackson controlled both companies, which “were held out to the public to be businesses dedicated to creating and distributing multimedia entertainment by Michael Jackson,” but they served a “dual purpose.”
“The thinly veiled, covert second purpose of these businesses was to operate as a child sexual abuse operation, specifically designed to locate, attract, lure and seduce child sexual abuse victims,” Jane Doe says in the complaint. “In fact, under this dual purpose, Michael Jackson and select few managing agents/employees of Does 1’s and Doe 2’s inner circle designed, developed and operated what is likely the most sophisticated public child sexual abuse procurement and facilitation organizations the world has known.”
Jackson created Los Angeles-based Doe 1 as his “primary business entity,” which “held most or all of the copyrights to Michael Jackson’s music and videos,” Jane Doe says.
“Michael Jackson was the company’s president, owner, and representative/agent,” and used it to “facilitate and arrange meetings and encounters between Michael Jackson and the minor plaintiff and other children for the purpose of Michael Jackson’s engaging in childhood sexual abuse,” according to the complaint.
Attached as exhibits to the lengthy complaint are three handwritten love notes, apparently signed by Jackson, and photocopies of at least three checks, each in six figures.
Jane Doe describes defendant Doe 2 as a Los Angeles-based entertainment company Jackson set up “in part for the purpose of placing children, like Jane AA Doe, in contact with Michael Jackson on various projects … for the purpose of Michael Jackson engaging in childhood sexual abuse of plaintiff and others.” She calls the two companies Jackson’s “co-conspirators, collaborators, facilitators and alter egos for the childhood sexual abuse alleged herein.”
Jane Doe says the sexual abuse started in 1986, when she was 12 years old and continued until she reached puberty at 15….
Jane Doe says the sexual abuse “included Michael Jackson fondling plaintiff sexually on her genitals and body, digitally penetrating plaintiff, giving plaintiff what he termed ‘movie kisses’ where he tongue-kissed her mouth and body, orally copulated plaintiff, forced plaintiff to orally copulate him, rubbed his clothed and unclothed body against plaintiff’s, and rubbed his penis on plaintiff’s vagina and attempted to fully insert it into her vagina, only partially inserting it and causing plaintiff to bleed.”
She says Jackson used his “position of trust and authority over her, for his own sexual gratification,” without her legal consent, as she was a minor….
Doe says the sexual abuse occurred in many places, including Jackson’s Hayvenhurst home, Universal Studios, at the Universal Sheraton hotel, at his Neverland ranch, in the back of his limousine, at Lorimar Studios in Studio City and at his personal apartment/condo, which he called the “Hideout.”
She seeks punitive damages for negligence, negligent supervision, negligent retention and hiring, negligent failure to train, warn or educate, breach of fiduciary duty and intentional infliction of emotional distress…. http://www.courthousenews.com/2016/10/26/corporate-shells-hid-jackos-kiddie-abuse-woman-says.htm

Brad Pitt cleared of wrongdoing after child abuse investigation By Sandra Gonzalez, Chloe Melas and Lisa France Thu November 10, 2016 CNN
Actor Brad Pitt has been cleared of wrongdoing by officials after a child abuse investigation.
A source familiar with the situation told CNN on Wednesday that Pitt has been cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in its investigation of an alleged incident of abuse involving Pitt and one of his children.
The accusation stemmed from an incident on a private plane in September — occurring one day before Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after two years of marriage.
At the time, a source with knowledge of the situation told CNN that Pitt was “taking this very seriously” and had cooperated with authorities…

FBI Unlikely to Proceed with Brad Pitt Child Abuse Investigation, Source Says
By Lindsay Kimble 09/24/2016
The FBI is unlikely to proceed with an investigation into the allegations of child abuse against Brad Pitt, a source close to the situation tells PEOPLE.
Pitt, 52, is accused of being “verbally abusive” and getting “physical” with son Maddox, 15, while he and wife Angelina Jolie were returning from France to their L.A. home on a private plane on Sept. 14.
An investigation into the alleged incident has been launched by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services after it was reported anonymously. It is ongoing. The case was also referred to the FBI under special aircraft jurisdiction, as the incident occurred mid-flight.
A source with knowledge of the situation previously told PEOPLE that Pitt did not strike Maddox but rather, “made contact” with him “in the shoulder area.”
“There was absolutely no physical injury to him,” the source explained.
Pitt was allegedly drunk, and arguing with Jolie. The source told PEOPLE, “There was a parent-child argument which was not handled in the right way and escalated more than it should have.”….

Catholic Archbishop Wilson loses bid to have charge of concealing child abuse thrown out of court ABC Newcastle By Giselle Wakatama 10/14/2016
Adelaide’s Catholic Archbishop Philip Wilson has lost his appeal against a magistrate’s refusal to quash a charge of concealing child abuse at the hands of a New South Wales priest.
Wilson is the most senior Catholic clergyman to be charged with covering up child sexual abuse.
Earlier this year, the Catholic Archbishop of Adelaide Philip Wilson asked the New South Wales Supreme Court to dismiss a criminal prosecution alleging he failed to report child abuse allegations.
The abuse was alleged to have been carried out by Father Jim Fletcher during the 1970s in the Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Diocese.
At the time Wilson was an assistant parish priest in East Maitland and worked with the now-dead paedophile priest.
Police allege that between 2004 and 2006, Wilson had information which might have helped police secure Fletcher’s conviction….

Bill to aid sex abuse victims dies in Pa. House October 25, 2016 By Maria Panaritis and Karen Langley / Harrisburg Bureau
HARRISBURG — A controversial proposal to extend the civil statute of limitations for child sex abuse victims appeared to collapse Tuesday after supporters in the House of Representatives said it was unlikely to move an amended version of the bill or reintroduce the original measure.
With little chance of it passing, they said they would try to revive it when the assembly reconvenes next year.
“The process is over at this point,” said Rep. Mark Rozzi, a Reading Democrat and clergy abuse victim who had been the bill’s fiercest advocate.
Both the GOP-controlled House and Senate had supported expanding victims’ rights to sue but split sharply on whether those rights should be applied retroactively for victims abused decades ago.
The House approved such a provision, but the Senate, after fierce lobbying from the insurance industry and the Catholic Church, removed it from the bill this summer and sent it back to the House….

A horrific hazing ritual ended his life, and his family’s By Joshua Rhett Miller September 16, 2016 Jordan Preavy had it all as a junior in high school after making the football team. But that dream quickly became a nightmare for the 16-year-old when he was sodomized during a hazing ritual.
Witnesses told police Preavy’s head “snapped back and he looked pained,” yelling “No!” and “Get off,” as he was assaulted through his clothes with a broomstick by at least two older teammates in 2011.
Nearly a year later, just weeks after his 17th birthday, Preavy killed himself….
Preavy’s parents are convinced the incident at Milton High School in Vermont contributed to his decision to take his own life. They’re now suing the school district, alleging it failed to protect their son.
“It’s the only thing that makes sense. Having that sexual abuse in front of his team devastated him. Devastated,” Preavy’s mother, Tracy Stopford, told the network.
ESPN reports that the school district has denied culpability in a court response to the lawsuit, claiming the broom handle did not break Preavy’s clothing.
“It is not likely that Preavy killed himself because on one occasion an object was pressed against his clothing in the buttocks,” the district argued….
Five men ranging in age from 18 to 20 were ultimately charged in connection with incidents at homes and at Milton High School in 2011 and 2012. They have pleaded guilty to various charges, the Associated Press reports.
Preavy’s story was one of three investigated by ESPN, which identified 40 hazing incidents at US schools involving sodomy since 2011, including seven this year. The network also detailed the hazing of former Oak Hills, Calif., football player Josh Villegas and former McGill University football player D’Arcy McKeown…. http://nypost.com/2016/09/16/football-hazing-incident-caused-downward-spiral-felt-5-years-later/

Two Childhood Rape Survivors Just Ended a Cult Leader’s Terrifying Reign

Of all the abuse, manipulation, and horrifying crimes that religious cult leader Victor Barnard committed, no one could have predicted his youngest victim would wield the most damning evidence against him. In court documents, her name is C. When she was 13, she started drawing a tiny X on her calendar every day Barnard raped her….
Barnard, now 55, rose to power in the 1990s as the charismatic leader of the River Road Fellowship, an offshoot Christian sect he founded and later transformed into a cult. He convinced 150 people to sell their homes and move to Shepherd’s Camp, an isolated 85-acre campground in Finlayson, Minnesota. Life was simple and entirely self-sustaining: Families sewed their own clothing, planted gardens, and traded goods and services like butchering, cabinet-building, and soap-making. There was no internet, no cell phones.
At Shepherd’s Camp, Barnard told everyone he represented Jesus Christ, dressing in billowy robes and carrying a staff….
In the summer of 2000, Barnard announced the names of ten first-born daughters, ages 12 to 24, whom he selected to live apart from their families at his private camp within Shepherd’s Camp. The “Ten Maidens,” as he called them, would be the congregation’s chaste, exemplar virgins, taking a vow of celibacy in a ceremony Barnard called the “Salt Covenant,” in which they promised to never marry and devote their lives to Barnard. Parents considered it an honor, as if their daughters were nuns. C and B were 12 and 13 then, the two youngest maidens, close friends, and guitarists in the church band. They would later remember moving to Barnard’s compound initially felt like a trip to summer camp.
Cloistered, the ten maidens allegedly cooked, cleaned, and sewed for Barnard between scheduled days of sex with him, though no one said a word to one another about the abuse….
“Nobody joins a cult,” Shaw said. “You join a community that you believe will have positive benefits and goals.” Galanter agreed, noting people who feel vulnerable, displaced, or unhappy are at the highest risk of joining a cult — they’re searching for a lost connection.
For many members of River Road, this was true: They first knew Barnard as a fellow member of the Way International, a nondenominational Christian sect that fell apart in the mid-1980s, after the group’s founder and his successor were both accused of brainwashing and having sex with female followers. When Barnard founded River Road years later, he promised them it would be different. He lied….

DA: Kaplan sexually abused 6 girls living with him in Bucks home October 31, 2016 by Justine McDaniel, Staff Writer Revealing horrific new allegations, officials on Monday charged a Bucks County man already accused of impregnating a teenager who allegedly had been “gifted” to him with sexually abusing six girls in total, including one as young as 6.
The sisters allegedly told authorities they believed they were wives of Lee Kaplan, 51, who was arrested in June on charges of rape of the oldest. The case drew national attention this summer when 11 females were discovered at Kaplan’s Feasterville home.
In announcing new charges Monday, authorities detailed alleged sexual assaults against six of the sisters beginning in 2008.
Kaplan “groomed them to believe that he was a religious, cult-like figure to whom they should submit their will,” Bucks County District Attorney Matthew D. Weintraub said at a news conference in Feasterville, adding that Kaplan styled himself “a prophet from God.”….

Former Christian school headmaster’s son charged with sexual assault
Eric Andrew-Gee The Globe and Mail Friday, Oct. 07, 2016
The son of a former headmaster of an Ontario Christian school that was closed in 2007 amid accusations of abuse and cult-like practices has been charged with sexual assault for alleged offences dating back 30 years….
He is the son of Charles Farnsworth, the late headmaster of Grenville Christian College, an elite private school near Brockville that was affiliated with the Community of Jesus, a controversial U.S. religious sect often described as a cult. Grenville closed in 2007 after 38 years in operation, citing declining enrolment and rising operating costs.
The closing coincided with a growing chorus of alumni accusing the school of chronic abuse and bizarre religious rites. A $225-million class action lawsuit filed in 2008 alleges former students were “sexually, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually traumatized” by their time at the school. The suit is ongoing….
Former students have described a climate of intense sexual repression in which women suspected of immoral behaviour were described as “Jezebels” and “bitches in heat,” and romantic relationships between students were discouraged and brutally policed.
Extreme physical punishment was common for students who ran afoul of the school’s stringent rules, a 2007 Globe investigation found….

The truth about British army abuses in Iraq must come out Nicholas Mercer Politicians and military chiefs dismiss victims’ claims and blame moneygrabbing lawyers. But the 326 cases already settled by the MoD tell a different story Monday 3 October 2016
,,,,allegations have been made about abuse of prisoners and civilians from the outset of the Iraq war in 2003. Three colonels in the divisional headquarters complained about mistreatment of prisoners within the first four weeks. In two public inquiries (into the deaths of Baha Mousa and Hamid al-Sweady), it was revealed that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) – the most respected body in the world in matters of international humanitarian law – had complained about prisoner abuse.
….The Baha Mousa inquiry heard that his military interrogators were using the so called “five techniques”, banned in 1978, which violate the Geneva conventions; the interrogators said they “answered to London” (the MoD) and not the chain of command. If this is correct then the MoD is at fault: the five techniques now amount to torture.
Many of the allegations concern physical, sexual and religious abuse during interrogation. The conduct appears systematic, and the MoD has video recordings. It could easily verify any claim and now needs to come clean: I cannot believe that any defence chief would wish to defend physical, sexual or religious humiliation in interrogation.
Finally, it has been well documented that there were secret detention facilities in the UK area of operations which appear to have bypassed prisoner of war facilities. If this is correct, it is in violation of the Geneva conventions and, if the prisoners were spirited out of the country, then that could amount to a grave breach.

Theresa May defends child abuse inquiry as lawyer resigns 29 September 2016
Theresa May has insisted the inquiry into child sexual abuse in England and Wales will not be scaled back despite recent setbacks.
The prime minister said she and Home Secretary Amber Rudd still had confidence in the inquiry.
She spoke after the lead counsel to the hearings, Ben Emmerson, was suspended on Wednesday and the inquiry’s second most senior lawyer resigned.
Elizabeth Prochaska’s resignation is said to be not linked to recent events….
On Wednesday the inquiry said it had “recently become very concerned about aspects of Ben Emmerson QC’s leadership” of his team and he had been suspended so these could be properly investigated.
The BBC understands more than one complaint has been made against him.
Preliminary hearings for the inquiry began in March at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
But Prof Alexis Jay, the current chairwoman, is the fourth person to have been appointed to lead the inquiry, following three earlier resignations….
The inquiry was set up to examine whether public bodies including the police have failed in their duty to protect children from sexual abuse. It will also examine claims of abuse involving “well-known people”. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-37508544

Rotherham child abuse charges: Eight guilty 10/17/16 Eight men have been found guilty of 16 charges related to the sexual abuse of three girls in Rotherham between 1999 and 2003….
Det Ch Insp Martin Tate said they had committed “vile crimes”….
They “sexualised” their victims, some as young as 13, and subjected them to “degrading and violent” acts….
After the verdict, Det Ch Insp Martin Tate of South Yorkshire Police said the trial marked the culmination of three years investigative work by police, Rotherham Council and the Crown Prosecution Service into the calculated and organised sexual exploitation of young girls.
He said the verdicts were of “massive importance” to the victims, who suffered years of abuse….
Peter Mann, of Yorkshire and Humberside Crown Prosecution Service, paid tribute to the victims.
“In contrast to the courage and strength of the victims, these men’s actions are utterly abhorrent,” he said.
“They waged a campaign of sexual violence and intimidation against young girls in the Rotherham area 13 years ago.
“Sageer Hussain in particular took a leading role in befriending the young girls, and in the case of one victim, passed her on to his friends and other associates.”…. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-37682136

Victim Says Hastert ‘A Monster’ Protected by Child Abuse Law By ivan moreno, associated press CHICAGO — Oct 4, 2016 A man who said Dennis Hastert sexually abused him decades ago told Illinois lawmakers Tuesday the former U.S. House speaker was “a monster” who was protected by the statute of limitations and wasn’t appropriately punished.
The comments from 54-year-old Scott Cross came as lawmakers are considering joining 37 other states that don’t have a statute of limitations for child sexual abuse cases. Hastert was sentenced in April to 15 months in prison for violating banking laws while trying to silence one of four victims identified by prosecutors, but Illinois’ statute of limitations meant he couldn’t be charged with sexual abuse, which could’ve sent Hastert to prison for decades.
“This topic, while difficult for me to discuss, is one that cannot be swept under the rug,” said Cross, his voice at times shaking as he urged a panel of lawmakers to change the limits of current law.
Lawmakers have four similar proposals pending that would eliminate Illinois’ statute of limitations for sexually abusing children….

Arrests made in Thailand-U.S. sex trafficking ring Amy Forliti, Associated Press · Minneapolis · Oct 4, 2016 About a dozen people were arrested in cities across the U.S. on Tuesday for running what authorities called a sophisticated sex trafficking operation in which hundreds of women were brought from Thailand to America under fraudulent visas and forced to work as prostitutes to pay off tens of thousands of dollars in bondage debts.
The women — including one who was forced to have sex with strangers for 12 hours a day, six or seven days a week — were not allowed to move about freely and were “effectively modern day sex slaves,” according to a redacted indictment unsealed Tuesday.
The arrests, along with the recent arrest of the organization’s boss in Belgium, will effectively dismantle the operation, said Alex Khu, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Minneapolis….
Tuesday’s indictment charges 17 people with various counts, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit forced labor, conspiracy to engage in money laundering and conspiracy to commit visa fraud. About a dozen people were arrested in the Minneapolis area, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
Khu said his office began investigating a sex trafficking case in the Twin Cities in January 2014 and discovered it was part of an international ring and “a very sophisticated, complex network operating throughout the United States … where women are really placed on a circuit, traveling from one city to the next.”
According to the indictment, since 2009, hundreds of women were brought from Bangkok, Thailand, to several U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Washington and Dallas. The women were from poor backgrounds, spoke little English and were lured with promises of a better life….https://www.mprnews.org/story/2016/10/04/thailand-us-sex-trafficking-ring-arrests-made

Shattered but Unbroken: Voices of Triumph and Testimony
Editor : Amelia van der Merwe, Editor : Valerie Sinason
Shattered but Unbroken is an edited volume focusing on Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), which combines the narratives of survivors of ritual abuse with academic contributions on the causes, correlates and interventions applicable to DID.
The book is divided into two distinct parts. Part I begins with the missing memoir of Anna, a survivor of ritual abuse. Anna chose not to publish her memoir for fear of retribution from her perpetrators. The plight of Anna is interwoven between all the contributions in the book, be they life writing or academic contributions. So too are the life writings of Annalise, writing under pseudonym. Instead of using Anna’s memoir, the politics of anonymity is addressed by a range of survivors of ritual abuse, who write about their decision to use their real name in their narratives, or to use pseudonyms.
Part II of the book contains academic contributions, which deal with the causes, correlates and interventions applicable to the most common response to ritual abuse, DID. These include a range of topics, such as the history of DID, cross-cultural perspectives, DID’s saturation with shame, debates and controversies around this diagnosis, and its relationship to culture and memory, a South African qualitative study, co-morbidity and selected reflections on its treatment, among other contributions.

Brian Hubner, acquisitions and access archivist with the University of Manitoba, is pictured with material from the fonds of Lynne Moss Sharman, an activist and social worker.
In trying to comprehend violence against women, child abuse and social injustice, one woman’s archival collection may help communities gain greater insight.
The University of Manitoba’s Archives and Special Collections recently acquired the clippings, photographs, journals, and documents compiled by Lynne Moss Sharman dating back to the 1970s and gathered over the past three decades.
The fonds explore topics ranging from missing and murdered Indigenous women, child abuse and foster care, prison deaths, and community action on issues.
According to Brian Hubner, acquisitions and access archivist with the university, the impetus for Sharman’s documentation began with her research into mind control experiments and abuse performed on children. Sharman claimed to be a survivor of experiments and government-sanctioned child abuse. She died in March 2014 at the age of 66.
“She was initially interested in medical experiments,” Hubner said. “Cold War medical experiments were done on her as a child and she was able to prove that. She reached out to other people who were victims of that, and that was really the origin of her research and her collecting.”
Sharman, an activist, social worker and artist from Thunder Bay, Ont., used the collection as a research bank of material, Hubner said. Sharman carefully curated the collection, with sections of the archive focused on the Pickton trials, the Highway of Tears, individual cases of missing and murdered women, and the media coverage that framed it all. She was passionate about her work and added her own annotations to the information she gathered in respect of its subjects, Hubner said….

PTSD In The Wake Of Abuse Is A Reality For Many Women Lauren Messervey 10/12/2016
Teal Swan was only six years old when she found herself in the hands of her abuser and forced into a nightmarish world that a lot of people were unwilling (or unable) to believe. For the better part of 13 years, she was was raped, beaten and psychologically tortured by people who she was told to trust. It wasn’t until she was 19 that she was able to escape.
This story of specific ritualistic abuse is unique to Teal’s struggle, but the heart of the issue is something that millions of people experience….
Teal was entrusted to an acquaintance of her family who claimed he could help her become healthier and better adjusted. Instead of helping her, Teal was inducted into two groups of deranged adults who participated in religious blood sacrifice and ritual.
“When I was 12, I was placed on a metal table in a veterinary office after hours,” says Teal. “The cult trainer of the group had black mesh over his face. He hooked me up to electrodes, placing gel under each one and used an old projector to project images of dead animal carcasses onto the wall in front of me. Every time he would change the slide on the projector screen, he would shock me. He kept saying ‘Look what you did,’ over and over, trying to suggest that I had killed all of those animals.”…. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/lauren-messervey/ptsd-abuse-women_b_12445530.html

Cult or Commune? How Utopian Communities Turn Dangerous From religious factions of the 1840s to the Buddahfield community profiled in this year’s ‘Holy Hell,’ a look at how a community can cross a line By Elizabeth Yuko November 10, 2016
In 1985, 22-year-old aspiring filmmaker Will Allen joined a community called Buddhafield at the suggestion of his sister, after his family didn’t accept him when he came out as gay. For 22 years, Allen documented life inside the cult as their videographer. The resulting 35 hours of footage comprises the basis of the documentary Holy Hell, which provides audiences with an intimate look at life inside this non-traditional community.
In the beginning, at least, it appeared that Buddhafield was attempting to revive the 19th-century concept of a Utopian community: a group of people living together working towards enlightenment. The leader, Michel Rostand, kept his followers focused on healthy living (no alcohol, drugs, caffeine or red meat, along with mandatory exercise), abstaining from sex and meditating frequently.
The group appeared to be a positive force on its members – yet the documentary tells a story of sexual, psychological and emotional abuse that allegedly took place behind-the-scenes at Buddhafield. On the surface, it looked like Allen found his place in a group of happy, healthy, like-minded individuals – but underneath, the community had problematic secrets….
What’s the difference between a group of people that live and work together to achieve well-being, and a full-fledged cult?….
Yet communes, for many, evoke the potential for groups to become more controlling and sinister in nature. Many of the most notorious cults in America started in the mid-20th century yet remain vividly in the public consciousness because of their bizarre and sometimes violent practices. These groups originated as offshoots of established religions or were influenced by social and civil movements. For example the Branch Davidians and the Children of God – formed in 1955 and 1968, respectively – both have their roots in Christianity, but because of deceptive and charismatic leaders, they devolved into cults. In 1993, more than 80 people died during the Branch Davidians’ standoff with the FBI in Waco, Texas, and the Children of God – also known as the Family – not only believed having sex with children was permissible, they claimed it was a divine right. Other cults like the Manson Family and the Peoples Temple – infamous for the Jonestown massacre of 1978 which left 909 people dead – attracted members based on social and cultural beliefs. In the case of the Manson Family, it was the fringe idea of inciting a race war, while the People’s Temple drew more mainstream followers as a progressive organization advocating for civil rights….
there are four important elements of mind control to consider when attempting to determine whether a group can be considered a cult. Known as the BITE Model, it takes into account the group’s control of an individual’s behavior, intellect, thoughts and emotions (hence BITE) and can be applied to anything from religions to terrorism organizations to cults.
The BITE model includes something Hassan calls the Influence Continuum, providing examples of healthy and constructive – and unhealthy and destructive – actions for individuals, leaders, organizations and relationships. The continuum indicates that a person free from influence has an authentic self, capable of critical thinking, free will and creativity. On the other end of the spectrum is an individual with a false identity whose actions are motivated by fear, guilt and obedience…. http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/features/cult-or-commune-how-utopian-communities-turn-dangerous-w449034

Trial ordered for firm accused of requiring cult-like acts October 5, 2016 By The Associated Press
NEW YORK – (AP) — A federal judge in New York City has ruled that a Long Island firm that provides discount medical plans must face a discrimination trial after workers said they were forced to pray, chant and participate in spiritual interpersonal workshops.
Newsday reported Tuesday that the Brooklyn judge ruled United Health Programs of America in Syosset (seye-AH’-siht) must face charges from workers who said they were fired because they didn’t participate.
The judge says the program, known as “Onionhead,” used an approach that amounted to a religion.
The judge says workers described a cult-like environment with religious ceremonies that included burning incense to cleanse the workplace and dimming lights to prevent demons from entering.
An attorney for the firm says there’s no proof workers were required to participate in Onionhead activities.

Leader of cult-like Ontario church jailed for 18 months for assault
The abuse inflicted by Fred King included squeezing a child’s hand with crushing force, and beating a young men stripped of clothes in front of his mother.
By The Canadian Press Wed., Sept. 14, 2016
OWEN SOUND, ONT.—The former head of a cult-like church in Chatsworth, Ont., is headed to jail for 18 months.
Fred King, 57, pleaded guilty earlier this year to nine counts of assault — relating to his time as leader of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored from 1978 to 2008 — and he was sentenced Wednesday in court in Owen Sound, Ont.
The abuse included squeezing a child’s hand with crushing force for fighting with a sister, and beating a teen in church in front of its members after she’d tried to run away.
He also beat a young man stripped of clothes in front of his mother, and then left him standing outside for hours at night as mosquitoes bit him.
Justice Clayton Conlan called the litany of physical abuse that King — who was known as “the prophet” — admitted to in court in May particularly disturbing as he accepted the sentence recommended jointly by the Crown and defence…..

The reality of human organ harvesting in China September 19, 2016 WARNING: Disturbing content
IMAGINE being abducted and whisked away to a cell where you spend the next several months or years without charge or conviction.
There, authorities torture you and force you to watch films designed to brainwash in a bid to align your views with those of China’s ruling Communist Party.
Every now and then you are dragged from your filthy, overcrowded cell into a room where, without warning, needles are jabbed into your arm and blood is drawn into as many vials as it can fill. Then prison authorities instruct a group of drug addicted criminals to use violence to restrain you as you are made to give a urine sample and subjected to invasive medical procedures.
No one responds to your screams or cries for help. No explanation is offered. The process is repeated regularly.
You might make it out alive after years of enduring the brutal treatment. Or you might be secretly executed.
There’s also a strong chance you might die on the operating table after surgeons sedate you and start removing organs from your body, one by one — while you’re still alive.
The government will say that you simply disappeared or that you were never there to begin with. But it’ll most likely say nothing at all.
Meanwhile, wealthy people will file into purpose-built hospitals for lifesaving organ transplants. The selection of human kidneys, livers and other organs is vast. That’s because thousands of people have been slaughtered to put them there. Organ harvesting is a lucrative business for the Chinese government.
That is the reality for thousands of Chinese citizens who have reportedly been subjected to forced medical testing for the purposes of organ harvesting for the best part of the past two decades.
China’s Communist Party continues to commit human rights atrocities on political prisoners in detention centres, labour camps and prisons across the country, according to reports.
No one is safe under the Communist Party’s regime but Falun Gong — a spiritual meditation based on the guiding principles of “truth, compassion and tolerance” — practitioners are the main targets.
The Chinese government banned the Falun Gong in 1999 and has been mercilessly persecuting, torturing, killing and locking them up in “black jails” — a network of extra-legal labour camps and detention centres established by the Communist Party to detain citizens without charge or conviction….

‘THERE ARE NO FORMAL LAWS PROHIBITING THE ORGAN HARVESTING’
Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) performs systematic research into the reports of state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting in China from prisoners of conscience.
DAFOH Australia spokeswoman Sophia Bryskine said the organisation was “particularly focused on China because, unlike anywhere else in the world, it is the only place where systematic forced organ harvesting continues to occur on a mass, state-sanctioned level”.
“There are no formal laws prohibiting the practice,” Dr Bryskine said….

Treaties against human trafficking key to fighting scourge, supporting victims – UN anti-crime official 29 September 2016 – With current armed conflicts and humanitarian crises driving massive population movements – and not just in Europe, though the continent has been heavily challenged – an upcoming United Nations report will confirm the troubling fact that human trafficking generally follows the overall migratory flows, a senior UN anti-crime official said today, urging States to back the Trafficking in Persons Protocol and other international tools to address the evolving and complex situation….
“The forthcoming biennial 2016 UNODC Global Report on Trafficking in Persons, which will be released in November, confirms that human trafficking flows generally follow the overall migratory flows, he said, adding that the majority of trafficking victims detected globally by Member States (around 60 per cent) are foreigners in the country of detection, most of them migrants….
Further, EU data confirms that child trafficking is exacerbated by the ongoing migration crisis, during which the number of children arriving in the EU has risen exponentially. A significant amount of these children are travelling unaccompanied, making them preferred targets for traffickers….

Ramsey Investigators’ Secret Trip To Asia September 19, 2016 By Rick Sallinger
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – This year marks 20 years since JonBenet Ramsey was murdered in her home in Boulder. Now CBS4 has learned of a secret trip made to Asia by investigators early on in the case.
The trip was to visit the manufacturer of the underwear worn by the 6-year-old girl when she was killed.
If there is a clue that could solve this disturbing murder mystery it may be as simple and complex and three letters, DNA. Small spots of blood from a still unknown person was found in JonBenet’s underwear. Did it come from the killer? Or did it come from somewhere else like from those who made the items?….
So the Boulder District Attorney’s office sent investigators to southeast Asia to the undisclosed country where the underwear was made. But Grant says the trip did not pay off as hoped….
What has been determined is that the DNA found on JonBenet’s clothing, including a later sample that was discovered and tested, did not match anyone in her family. Based on that in 2008, Lacy exonerated JonBenet’s parents and brother Burke. In fact, no match has ever been found with anyone….

The Real Impact of Child Abuse on Life Span
A past history of abuse and trauma can have a significant impact on a person’s well-being and longevity. By Pam Peeke, M.D. Sept. 15, 2016
….new science is prompting doctors and other health professionals to take note of the impact of child abuse on long-term health and survival. In one recent, revealing study, scientists evaluated national survey data to determine the mortality rate of 6,300 people over the course of 20 years. The group was mostly white, roughly split between men and women, and had completed a questionnaire detailing any history of child abuse. At the end of the study, the average age of survivors was 47 years. The researchers controlled for other mitigating factors that could impact their findings, including socioeconomic status or mental health disorders.
The study’s findings were striking, particularly for women. Female subjects who reported having experienced physical abuse were 58 percent more likely to die from all causes during the study period. Women who were emotionally abused were 22 percent more likely to die during the observed 20 years. Men who had a history of child abuse did not experience any impact on overall mortality rates.
….A child subjected to ongoing abuse desperately seeks comfort from the pain. Food is the most common and accessible form of reward to neutralize the angst. But using food to self-soothe can lead to overeating, bingeing and weight gain well into adulthood, with its subsequent and serious medical consequences. Harvard researchers examined the relationship between child abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder and addictive eating, which is defined as the overconsumption of processed food products and is associated with a loss of control as well as shame, blame and guilt. Studying more than 40,000 women from the Nurses’ Health Study, an ongoing health assessment study, the team led by women’s health expert Susan Mason (who is now on faculty at the University of Minnesota) found that a history of severe physical or sexual abuse was associated with an astonishing 90 percent increase in addictive eating behavior as a self-soothing coping mechanism. In a related study, Mason found women who exhibited the most PTSD symptoms, and for whom trauma (including parental divorce and bullying) or abuse began at an earlier age, were twice as likely to struggle with addictive eating. In this study, the type of trauma or abuse didn’t matter.
In a previous groundbreaking study supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, researchers investigated the prevalence of child abuse in 17,000 Kaiser Permanente health plan members. Led by Dr. Vincent Felliti, an expert in childhood trauma and abuse who founded the department of preventive medicine for Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, researchers reported that they found “a strong graded relationship between the breadth of exposure to abuse or household dysfunction during childhood and multiple risk factors for several of the leading causes of death in adults.” The research team created the Adverse Childhood Experience, or ACE, questionnaire, which is one of the most valuable evaluation tools used by clinicians and investigators today. ACE questions relate to an individual’s first 18 years of life, and document the presence of any form of abuse and neglect; domestic violence; family member substance abuse, criminal history and mental illness; and parental relationship challenges, including separation and divorce….
As the number of ACEs increased, so did the risk for a wide spectrum of grave mental and physical medical conditions. These included alcoholism, smoking and drug abuse; depression; heart disease; obesity; poor work performance and academic achievement; sexual promiscuity; domestic partner violence; and suicide attempts….
